Dan Skelton: Frere D’Armes my best chance at Scottish Grand National meeting

Leading trainer and Ladbrokes ambassador Dan Skelton has five runners at Saturday’s Scottish Grand National meeting and he spoke to us about their prospects of winning at Ayr.

Frere D’Armes – 1.15 Ayr

This is a valuable two-mile handicap chase and I think Frere D’armes has stepped forward from Ascot last time out when he came second. He just got a bit tired and I think he will improve and go close here. He is my best chance of the day.

Sail Away – 1.50 Ayr

I think Sail Away will go close here too. He needed his first run after a long break. He is a big player in this three-mile novices’ handicap chase as the track and ground are ideal.

L’Eau Du Sud – 2.25 Ayr

I am hoping for some rain or a bit of watering. He will be fine on good to soft ground, but a little softer isn’t a negative in the Scottish Champion Hurdle for L’eau Du Sud.

He is a horse that has held his own in some good handicaps this year without winning. It would be nice to win one with him before he gets put away until next year. He has an each-way chance.

Unexpected Party – 3.00 Ayr

This is a strong renewal of this race and it is really competitive. Unexpected Party has some good form going into this race. Obviously, it’s not the only good form on offer and there are some class contenders here. However, he certainly isn’t miles behind any of them and I think he has an each-way chance.

Uhtred – 4.10 Ayr

He comes here off a nice mark and I think he is a player on a track and on ground he’ll definitely enjoy.
