Everton v Krasnodar: Tight defence means Toffees win to nil
Published:
Everton go into the final round of games already assured of top spot in Europa League Group H but, despite being likely to rest key players, it is the hosts who look the side to back.
While Everton have nothing but pleasing the home crowd as motivations, Krasnodar will see the tie as equally pointless in that they are already doomed to a European exit.
This has been reflected in the price with Everton 17/20 favourites, the Russians 31/10 outsiders and the draw available at 9/4.
There is better value to be had though, and here Ladbrokes News’ James Curtis highlights three of the best bets.
Krasnodar may have held Everton to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture but the Toffees remain unbeaten in the Europa League and are a different beast at Goodison Park, where both Wolfsburg and Lille have been comprehensively beaten.
The results in those games – 4-1 against the Germans and 3-0 against the French – suggest that Krasnador could be thumped – even by a weakened Toffees side.
The Toffees have kept three consecutive clean sheets in the competition and while Krasnador scored against both Lille and Wolfsburg on the road with nothing to play for it could be a different story.
The visitors come into the tie on the back of a 4-0 roasting by Zenit St Petersburg so expect them to be easily put to the sword here against a Toffees side that has scored exactly two or three goals in five of their eight home games this season.
After scoring against Krasnodar in Russia Eto’o looks a solid bet to come into the side and score again with the 33-year-old on at 9/2 to net first and 7/5 to strike anytime.
But, with the home win seemingly a formality, the 21/10 on the Cameroonian netting in an Everton victory is too good to ignore.
