X Factor: Great survivor Stevi is finally facing his curtain call

Published:

We’ve all loved having Stevi Ritchie in this year’s X Factor competition.

From his hip-shaking rendition of Livin’ La Vida Loca in the opening week of live shows to his unique take on Bohemian Rhapsody, we’ve been enthralled and  in equal measure.

The 34-year-old has been the best novelty act since Wagner but, like all good things, they have to come to an end.

It’s with a heavy heart we have to condemn Stevi to the scrapheap but as the X Factor approaches its own instalment of ‘squeaky-bum time’, it appears that our man has finally used up all of his nine lives.

Here are the top three acts in the firing line in week 7 of the live shows:

Stevi Ritchie – 4/7 to be eliminated

Even we have to agree that Stevi’s performance of Mambo No.5/She Bangs on last week’s show was pretty, erm, awful.

It’ll be interesting to see how he tackles this week’s Whitney Houston v Elton John theme (random).

But whatever song choice he’s given it looks as if the popular singer is up against it as we enter the business end of the competition.

Sorry Stevi.

Only the Young – 4/1

These lot can also be filed under the ‘great survivors’ category having at one stage looked certainties to face the axe.

But the ‘fun’ four-piece have battled back and with mentor Louis Walsh making some astute song choices in recent weeks.

Well, their performances of the Blame it on the Boogie and I Wanna Be Like You (The Monkey Song) have certainly offered something different at least.

We’ll be seeing them next week.

Stereo Kicks – 5/1

It’s unlikely that Barclay, Chris, Tom, James, Reece, Jake, Casey and Charlie (count ‘em) will ever hit the heights enjoyed by fellow tenny-boppers, One Direction.

However, Stereo Kicks look relatively safe for the time being and are also a value bet in the ‘Top Group’ market (currently available at 4/5).

They’d have to do something pretty awful to be voted out at this stage.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
