Fantasy Football: Sanchez for Hazard makes sense to The Believer

Published:

The international break has allowed the Ladbrokes Life gang some time to clear their heads and reassess their thinking around their respective Fantasy Football teams.

But which of our intrepid quintet will benefit the most from the recent hiatus?

The Premier League is taking shape and we’ve already seen a number of dips in and out of form – besides a few high-profile injuries – making it that little bit harder to make sound judgements.

Still, making an informed decision has never been a problem for (most of) our betting heroes.

So, let’s see what they’ve come up with ahead of another tasty round of fixtures.

Over to you guys…

Last week didn’t go to plan and that’s let the others catch me up. But there’s still a long way to go so I’m not worried…yet.

Koscielny has a minor injury but the news is he’ll recover in time and with Watford up next I’m expecting a clean sheet for the Gunners.

Kane looked bright for England and he’s starting to look like the player of last year and that’s a promising sign.

Only the one change for me this week. Ozil’s breathtaking performance over United recently has got him transferred into the squad and I’ll be expecting the midfield maestro to start getting more assists and goals.

Rooney continues to wear the armband and I’m hoping the United man can get on the scoresheet against his former club. I’m starting to lose patience with him but sooner or later the goals will hopefully come and theirs no better time to start like the present.

With Aguero’s injury pretty much wiping out any chance of a surge to a respectable position I’ve had to re-think my attacking philosophy.

Sanchez coming in for Hazard is the big change, Eden has been a shadow of his former self this season and Alexis has been on fire for both Arsenal and Chile lately.

Janmaat also makes a reappearance after thankfully being dropped for the City game, but I keep the same front three of Martial, Gomis and Mitrovic.

Gomis loses the captaincy to Alexis and I’m also the first of the Ladbrokes Life gang to use a Points Booster. Even at this stage of the season, my title hopes are as likely as Jose being invited round round Eva’s house for tapas. It really is all or nothing.

My team has accumulated some very healthy points totals recently but the international break has certainly provided its casualties.

Star man Sergio Aguero is now out for around two months while David Silva looks likely to spend a period on the sidelines too.

Therefore, in comes Romelu Lukaku for the Argentine. Everton have beaten Man United in four of their last six meetings and I think they can cause an upset again here.

Such is my faith in the Toffees, Ross Barkley gets the armband. In midfield, Silva swaps out for Alexis Sanchez in what should be a routine victory for the Gunners at Watford.

With injuries to key players including Silva, Coutinho and Aguero I was tempted to do something drastic.

But I’ve stuck with the team after last round’s monster performance with 110 points getting me right back into the race.

Butland keeps his place and after earning his first senior England cap against Lithuania and he’ll still be on a high. Schlupp’s becoming a big player for this side. A first team starter for the impressive Leicester, he also has a eye for goal.

Ozil helped crush Man United recently and the quality addition will hopefully continue to pile up the points for me this season.

Meanwhile, free-kick specialist Willian is guaranteed to continue his fine form after a double for Brazil midweek which means Villa could be in-trouble come 5.30 on Saturday.

Then comes the big dilemma, the five goal hero and captain, Sergio Aguero, ruled out until late November. How do you replace him?

Looking at the candidates, I’ve brought in Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian beast must still be buzzing after his national side got named number one seed at Euro 2016 and after his brace against the Baggies, I fancy him to punish a fragile United.

#GutTruster

These lads got me to the top of the pile, so why not stick with them?

There’s some tasty fixtures in there this week, with most of my attackers having a good chance to pick up some goals. Points mean prizes and all that…

I’m not worried about Mr Brightside in third-place as his shining light from the last gameweek, Sergio Aguero, is now facing a spell on the sidelines.

What a shame, eh?
