Fantasy Football: Will Jamie Vardy come to the rescue for The Believer?

Published:

Gameweek 11 is upon us and Fantasy Football managers up and down the land will once again be tinkering with their teams as the season takes shape.

In the Ladbrokes Life League it’s Generous John who’s opening up a healthy lead over the rest of the gang with his measured approach reaping rewards so far.

However, having made a few big changes this week, could we start to see a few cracks appear?

The others will certainly be looking up their respective games and reel him in.

Here’s what they’ve all been up to…

As I promised last week, Gomis is gone. His poor form and lack of goals means Vardy is man to replace him.

The England international has been excellent for Leicester and he’s shown no signs of slowing down.

The rest of my team remains the same with Sanchez holding on to the captaincy. The Arsenal faithful have to be repaid for their team’s awful display at Hillsborough and Sanchez is just the man to help turn things around.

And even though I’ve came in for a bit of stick from the rest of the Ladbrokes Life gang about my Newcastle players, I’m sticking with them. It’s just a matter of time before Mitrovic comes good.

Having scored under the average last week it’s time to bring in a big name to shake up the pack.

The goalkeeper and back four stay the same. A depleted Newcastle will struggle to test one of the best keepers this season so far in Butland.  Full-backs Cresswell and Schlupp could get some joy on the counter attack at away trips to Watford and West Brom respectively.

Meanwhile, Sterling swaps for the injured Silva for the visit of the struggling Canaries. Norwich are without a win in five and City’s number seven bagged a hat-trick in their last home league game, that’s why he gets the armband.

The front three also keep their place and I’m hopping Martial and Lukaku can rediscover their early season form to be in good company with the third most prolific striker in Europe, Mr. Jamie Vardy.

A difficult week for most of us in the Ladbrokes Life League (apart from Generous John of course). I’m wary he’s pulling away, so need my players to step it up again. He’s only a Vardy miracle (5 goals, 90 Mins, Bonus and Assist) away from being caught as it stands…

My only change sees Spurs defender, Alderweireld come in for Ashley Williams who picked up a silly yellow card against Villa on Saturday. I’m hoping Villa haven’t regrouped by Saturday ready for life after Sherwood, so that my new boy can pick up some needed clean sheet points.

Vardy keeps the captaincy after another goal last weekend, as he keeps up with his quest for the Golden Shoe.

A haul of 73 points from last week is not a bad return if you ask me. I’ve now opened up a nice lead at the top of League and I’m hoping this continues to increase over the season.

I’ve taken a four point hit this week in order to bring in some big hitters. Rooney, Coutinho and Azpilicueta all make way for Vardy, Sanchez and Alderweireld.

The new recruits will hopefully continue their rich form and have another strong week of points. I’d resisted all temptation to put him in by but Vardy’s blistering form continues and he doesn’t look like slowing down anytime soon so it was only right I brought him in.

Arsenal were dreadful in the Capital One Cup and i’m sure there will be a massive improvement from the Gunners when they face Swansea on Saturday. They’ve also been hit with a few injuries but with players like Ozil and Sanchez on hot form i’m expecting Arsenal to get the three points. Sanchez gets the captain’s armband for my team this week.

I was disappointed following a below average performance last week but I still think this team’s capable of competing strongly with the others.

And for that reason I’ve made only one change with the Wayne Rooney being sacrificed for Harry Kane.

Spurs’ main man showed glimpses of his form from last season against Bournemouth and I’m expecting him to now put a run together and add to last week’s hat-trick. I’ve also given him the armband to help further boost my points total. No pressure Harry.

The rest of the team stays the same but with a few interesting fixtures this weekend I’m sure I’ll reap the rewards after this gameweek.
