Man United may claim 20th league title on Man City home turf
Published:Seven consecutive wins have seen Manchester United storm ahead in the Premier League title race, and Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are now 15/8 to clinch a 20th league success at the home of rivals Manchester City on 30 April.
United can move eight points clear of City on Sunday, albeit briefly perhaps, as they meet QPR in an early kick off at Old Trafford, odds-on at 1/7 to make it eight back-to-back league wins.
Meanwhile, City will have their work cut out as they travel to the Emirates scratching around for form, hoping to beat a strong Arsenal side and keep their title hopes alive at 8/5.
Ferguson’s charges, whose experience has come to the fore as the business end of the season comes into play, are currently 1/10 chances for the Premier League, whilst City are 5/1 shots, and these prices are sure to fluctuate depending on Sunday’s results.
It is 2/5 that United fail to secure the league crown at Eastlands in the latter stages of April, but considering the respective fixtures of either sides, it looks a better idea to invest in the 15/8 price for them to win it at the home of their great rivals.
Should United win on Sunday, and City fail to do the same in that tough trip away to in-form Arsenal, a gap of at least seven points will open up between the two sides.
As the next three fixtures for either team look winnable after this weekend, it would appear to be set up for United to land a crushing blow to their local counterparts on their own patch.
The Citizens should take nine points from matches against West Brom, Norwich and Wolves, who they have beaten already this term, whilst United will hold no fears as they meet struggling Wigan, Aston Villa and welcome Everton to Old Trafford.
If each side are to claim maximum points from these games, and the gap is seven points or more come Sunday night, United would need only a point at Eastlands to clinch a 20th title, and justify that 15/8 price.
