Liverpool v Atletico Madrid betting tips: Reds favourites to seal last-16 spot

Liverpool v Atletico betting tips and odds
Liverpool are unbeaten in 24 games and can book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League with victory against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.
The Reds top the group with a perfect nine points thanks to a thrilling 3-2 victory at the Wanda Metropolitano in which the visitors took a 2-0 lead inside 15 minutes only for the Spanish champions to equalise through a double from Antoine Griezmann, who was later sent off.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are 4/6 to get the win they need to reach the knockout stage but let’s look at some of the other options in our Liverpool v Atletico betting tips.
Match Odds
Not many teams have taken a two-goal lead inside 15 minutes at Atletico Madrid under Diego Simeone, if any, but the Merseysiders did just that two weeks ago and are 4/1 to be ahead after a quarter of an hour once again at Anfield.
The Reds can also be backed at 9/4 to win and concede as they have in all three victories in Group B, while both teams to score in the first half, which was also the case in the 3-2 win against AC Milan, is available at 17/5 in our Liverpool v Atletico betting tips.
Atletico proved tough, even down to 10 men, and thought they had the chance to equalise only for the referee to overturn the penalty he had awarded after checking the VAR monitor.

On the down side, Simeone will be without suspended striker Griezmann, but Luis Suarez is available to make his return to Merseyside and Joao Felix, who scored nine minutes after coming on as a second-half sub in Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Real Betis, is competing for a place in the starting line-up with Angel Correa.
A share of the spoils is 29/10 and a score draw is 15/4, while a repeat of Atletico’s victory here over 18 months ago can be backed at 4/1, with goals at both ends in that scenario 7/1.
Hopefully, there will be plenty of goals on Wednesday night and another 3-2 win for the Reds is 20/1, while the hosts to win by a one-goal margin again is 5/2.
Mo Salah’s record 10-game scoring run ended in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Brighton but he can be backed at 15/2 to score in both halves as he did in Spain.
Talking Tactics
Brighton’s comeback from two goals down in securing a deserved 2-2 draw, during which they also had a goal ruled out for offside and hit the post, will have given hope to Atletico.
Klopp criticised the body language of some of his players in the second half and will demand better ball retention for Wednesday’s game.

One player who will be absent is Naby Keita who went off with a hamstring injury in the first half on Saturday, so he joins midfielders Fabinho and James Milner on the sidelines.
Simeone deployed a 3-1-4-2 against Liverpool with Felix and Griezmann starting up front, Kieran Trippier on the right wing, Thomas Lerner on the left and Koke in the holding midfield role.
Goalscorer Odds
Salah is 14/5 favourite to break the deadlock and 19/20 to score any time against Atletico who are level on points with Porto in second place.
Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are 4/1, 9/2 and 5/1 to score the first goal of the game or 8/5, 7/4 and 15/8 respectively in the anytime markets.
Atletico’s fate could be decided in their final match against the Portuguese, but they will want to get something out of this game, so we go 9/2 on Suarez bagging the opener or 17/10 just to score.
Correa and Felix are both 15/2 to score the game’s first goal or 14/5 to find the net in our Liverpool v Atletico betting tips.
