Bordeaux backed for vintage Coupe de France final win

Published:

It’s been a tough year for wine farmers and footballers in Bordeaux with the inclement weather and sale of Yoann Gouffran to Newcastle denting prospects of a fruitful season.

But despite this departure, Les Girondins’ could yet taste sweet success with Francis Gillot’s team priced as favourites to win the Coupe de France final in 90 minutes at 21/20.

Evian may be available at 11/4 but it’s FCGB’s  goalscoring efforts in the competition and record against their opponents that make them worth a punt.

Like a fine wine, Bordeaux’s run to the Coupe de France final has contained plenty of deep, rich moments to savour – most notably in the form of goals.

While Gillot’s men have failed to keep a clean sheet throughout the cup campaign, they have certainly entertained spectators with three or more goals scored in each of their five victories en route to Paris.

They have also beaten Evian home and away by scorelines of 2-1 and 3-2 in the league, making odds of 13/5 on Bordeaux winning with 2.5 goals scored in the match a corker of a selection.

The goals have certainly flowed of late, with two or more scored in the first half of three of their last four and with 23/10 available on over 1.5 goals in the first half, these odds are not to be sniffed at.

Much will depend on the form of their Coupe de France top scorer Cheick Diabate. The Malian is 5/1 to open the scoring and has flourished at the perfect time for the club with four goals in Bordeaux’s last four games.

Evian may look to keep things tight, as they did in their 1-1 quarter final draw with PSG, a game they went on to win on penalties, and you can get 11/5 on a draw at 90 minutes.

Anyone seeking a goalscorer bet from Les Roses should look no further than hotshot Saber Khelifa. He is 5/2 to net anytime, the Tunisian has three in his last three and will be Evian’s most-potent goal threat.
