Brazil v Peru betting tips

The first Copa America semi-final takes place in Rio de Janeiro tonight when tournament hosts Brazil face Peru in Rio de Janeiro.

The Selecao reached the last four with a 1-0 victory against Chile while Peru needed penalties to progress after a thrilling 3-3 draw with Paraguay.

Tite’s side are the 8/11 favourites in the Copa America winner odds to triumph in the tournament for a 10th time but let’s look at some of the other odds and markets in our Brazil v Peru betting tips.

Match Odds

Brazil hammered Peru 4-0 in their second group game and can be backed at 4/6 to win to nil or 19/10 with over 3.5 match goals while another win by that scoreline is 9/1.

The teams also met in a World Cup qualifier in October when Neymar scored a hat-trick in a 4-2 victory so they certainly have had the upper hand in recent contests.

Peru scored first in that game and are 9/2 to break the deadlock again while a Brazil win and both teams to score can be backed at 13/5.

One of the interesting #GetAPrice markets is for Neymar to outscore the opposition just as he did in the last two games against Peru.

Brazil have won five of the last six clashes with Peru since 2019, scoring 18 goals and conceding four times, so we could be in for another goal-laden encounter.

They are 11/4 to win both halves, to score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet or, at lower odds, 11/10 to win either half, to score at least twice and not concede as they have done in three of their five matches at Copa America.

Talking Tactics

Tite went with a 4-2-3-1 against Chile with Neymar deployed as the lone striker and Roberto Firmino flanked by fellow Premier League stars Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison.

However, the Brazil coach preferred a 4-4-2 for the win against Peru with Gabriel Barbosa accompanying Neymar up front, Fabinho and Fred in central midfield, with Everton Soares on the left and Jesus on the right.

Jesus, though, was sent off for a high challenge on Eugenio Mena during the win against Chile and is suspended, so Everton Ribeiro may start on the right.

Peru coach Ricardo Gareca used a 4-2-3-1 formation in the defeat by Brazil but changed to a 4-1-4-1 against Paraguay, with Gianluca Lapadula leading the line and Andre Carrillo on the right.

Carrillo was sent off late on against Paraguay and unfortunately for Peru is unavailable.

Goalscorer Odds

Neymar is clearly the man to watch in this game and is 13/5 to break the deadlock, 5/6 to score or 18/1 to repeat his hat-trick heroics from last year.

Firmino and Richarlison are 7/2 to get the ball rolling or 7/5 to get on the scoresheet while the match-winner against Chile, Lucas Paqueta, is 13/2 and 23/10 in the same markets.

Lapadula represents Peru’s best chance of scoring and is 14/1 to get the game’s first goal or 5/1 just to find the net in our Brazil v Peru betting tips.
