Burnley v Brentford betting tips: Dyche calm in hunt for maiden win

Burnley v Brentford betting tips and odds

Both teams had mixed fortunes in the Carabao Cup during the week when Brentford booked a place in the quarter-finals with a 2-1 win at Stoke but Burnley limped out with a lacklustre 1-0 defeat by Tottenham.

The Clarets are one of three teams without a Premier League victory this season and yet both teams are 17/10 to win Saturday’s game.

Home boss Sean Dyche remains bullish despite his side’s lowly position in the table so let’s look at the options in our Burnley v Brentford betting tips.

Match Odds

These teams last met in the Championship almost six years ago when the Lancastrians completed the double with a 3-1 victory en route to winning the title.

The Bees have made a great start to the season and remain unbeaten on the road following two wins and two draws, with another share of the spoils priced at 21/10 or it’s 16/5 with goals thrown into the equation.

Dyche welcomed back skipper Ben Mee on Wednesday following a three-match injury absence so that will have at least given the Clarets a boost.

But their main concern is in attack having scored just seven times this season, the second lowest in the Premier League.

Four of those goals came in 2-2 draws with Leicester and Southampton in their last four outings and we go 14/1 on the same scoreline while both teams to score in the first half is 17/4.

This match could go any way, though, so instead of favouring one team, under 1.5 goals in the first half, two or fewer after the break and either team to win has potential at 5/4.

A goal in both halves and the match to end in a draw is available at 11/2 as one of Saturday’s Burnley v Brentford betting tips.

Talking Tactics

Dyche sticks doggedly to a 4-4-2 formation and even though his team have yet to win he said: “We’re not going to over-question things when we know for a fact they’re going right.”

Chris Wood was rested for Wednesday’s cup defeat in which Jay Rodriguez and Matej Vydra started up front but the New Zealand striker is expected to return this weekend, possibly up front with Josh Brownhill to accommodate Maxwel Cornet on the left wing.

Bees boss Thomas Frank suffered a big blow at the weekend when goalkeeper David Raya sustained a knee injury which is likely to leave him onteh sidelines for up to four months, so Alvaro Fernandez has big boots to fill.

Frank will deploy his usual 3-5-2 formation as he did at Stoke, although Marcus Forss played just behind main striker Ivan Toney.

Forss could make way for striker Bryan Mbeumo to accompany Toney in attack, with Christian Norgaard in the heart of midfield.

Goalscorer Odds

Wood and Toney dominate the betting in the first goalscorer markets at 7/2, although they are 8/5 and 13/8 as anytime options respectively in our Burnley v Brentford betting tips.

Cornet’s double at Southampton means he is 17/2 to open the scoring and 7/2 to find the net while Brownhill is 5/1 to bag his first Premier League goal.

Brentford have been spreading the goals throughout the team this season but Mbeumo has a chance at 5/1 and 9/4 in the two markets.

Norgaard is having an exceptional season and is 9/1 to add to the goal he scored against Arsenal while Sergi Canos is 10/1 to break the deadlock as he did at Stoke or 4/1 just to find the net.
