Wednesday’s Champions League Betting Tips: Man United to continue fine UCL form?

Published:
Solskjaer - Man United

That was some breathless football! A 6-0 and 6-2 stuffing contributed to a whopping 35 goals scored across the eight Champions League games last night.

Fancy more of the same tonight? Man United hope to brush off their Premier League defeat to Arsenal by maintaining their 100% record in the group stage, while Chelsea are starting to click into gear and host Rennes.

We’ve run down some of the most intriguing ties this evening and where they could be won and lost…

Istanbul Basaksehir v Man United, 17:55

Manchester United are firm favourites at 2/5 to make it three wins from three in Group H.

But after defeat to the Gunners on Sunday, gaffer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will expect a big response tonight.

After last week’s trouncing of RB Leipzig, another 5-0 victory is a lengthy 33/1, while United to Win to Nil is 13/10. Paul Pogba could retain his place, and Red Devils fans will rejoice if they see Donny Van De Beek’s name in the starting line-up.

There’s 7/1 about the hosts scoring their first win of their Champions League campaign. The Turks have a few familiar faces in their squad including ex-Premier League players Demba Ba and Martin Skrtel, while former-United man Rafael could feature.

Can they throw a spanner in the works? Ba is 10/3 to score anytime, with Edin Visca at 10s to break the deadlock. New United signing Edinson Cavani could make his first start and is 23/20 anytime, Bruno Fernandes is 13/10 to net.

Chelsea v Rennes, 20:00

Chelsea start as 2/7 favourites to pick up their second win of the group stage. Rennes, who finished in third place in Ligue 1 last season, are 10/1 to upset the hosts.

Blues’ goalkeeper Edouard Mendy could face his former side, only two months after making the move to West London. But forward Christian Pulisic is to be nursed back to full fitness and will miss out on this one.

The French side will have to make do without defender Daniele Rugani and star man Eduardo Camavinga. Their threat may come from striker Serhou Guirassy (10/3) to score anytime and Mbaye Niang at 7/2 to hit the onion bag.

As for Frank Lampard’s boys, they’re 17/10 to Win Both Halves. Hakim Ziyech is 5/1 to score first, with Kai Havertz at 13/8 anytime and Timo Werner 7/2 to notch 2 or more.

RB Leipzig v Paris Saint-Germain, 20:00

Neymar and Kylian Mbappe headline a raft of starters ruled out for PSG tonight, but last season’s finalists are still 7/4 to get the three points.

Thomas Tuchel will have to re-shuffle his pack with Moise Kean likely to lead the attack alongside Pablo Sarabia and Angel Di Maria.

This could open the door for a wounded RB Leipzig side looking to get back on track. Julian Nagelsmann’s side are 7/5 for victory. The first goal could be vital here with the Germans 5/1 to be leading inside 15 minutes.

Together these teams are characterised for their free-flowing attacking play with Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals at 4/5.

In the goalscorer market, Kean is 5/1 to score the first, while Di Maria is 21/10 anytime. The home side’s Alexander Sorloth is 15/8, with Marcel Sabitzer at 13/5.

There’s another five games on show today including Zenit v Lazio, Barcelona v Dynamo Kiev and Club Brugge hosting Borussia Dortmund.
