Christian Eriksen: Bees and United neck and neck in race to sign great Dane

Bees and United evens in Christian Eriksen transfer odds

Christian Eriksen is weighing up his future after his contract with Brentford expired in the summer.

The 30-year-old Dane suffered a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 in June last year and was subsequently fitted with an implanted cardioverter-defibrillator which resulted in him leaving Inter Milan.

He signed a six-month deal with the Bees at the end of January and the Christian Eriksen transfer odds suggest it’s a two-horse race between Brentford and Manchester United for his signature.

Brentford

Eriksen scored one goal and provided four assists during his spell at Brentford, who have reportedly offered the midfielder another six-month contract.

Head coach Thomas Frank took a chance on Eriksen, who had to be resuscitated on the pitch when his heart stopped for five minutes during Denmark’s European Championship match against Finland 12 months ago.

Eriksen certainly feels grateful towards his compatriot Frank and staying in west London would avoid the hassle of moving up north to Manchester.

He also previously said he wanted to continue playing in London because his family are settled in the capital, so Brentford certainly have a chance of re-signing their man as Tottenham now appear to be out of the running.

Brentford are evens in the Christian Eriksen transfer odds to welcome back a player that helped keep them in the Premier League, winning seven of the 11 games he was involved in.

Manchester United

The Red Devils are also thought to have offered a six-month contract to Eriksen who is said to be interested in linking up with Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Eriksen is thought to be close to making a decision about his future, but will he be heading to Old Trafford?

United are also evens in the Christian Eriksen transfer odds, so it looks like a toss of the coin regarding his next destination.

Eriksen is supposedly keen to be playing Champions League football as he did in his final season with Inter Milan, but Manchester United clearly cannot offer that level of football.

But if Eriksen helps United finish in the top four next season or win the Europa League, then another contract offer would surely follow as a matter of course.

Newcastle

The Magpies remain interested in Eriksen, although their main priorities have been bringing in Sven Botman and Hugo Ekitike.

However, Newcastle have reportedly been in touch with Eriksen’s representatives about a potential move and the addition of the Danish schemer would certainly improve their squad.

Brentford and United are the front runners, though, with Newcastle 6/1 to bring him to St James’ Park.

Tottenham

Spurs could offer what Eriksen wants in terms of elite European football, but talks between the parties reportedly led to his former club pulling the plug on bringing their former player back to north London.

Eriksen scored 69 goals and supplied 90 assists in 305 appearances with Spurs, but their interest seems to have waned and they are 8/1 to re-sign one of their best players in the last decade.
