Norwich v Spurs: Goals aplenty in all-Premier League clash

Published:

Norwich prepare to host Tottenham as they enjoy their best run of form this season and, using their last meeting with Spurs as a basis, will be confident of dumping Andre Villas Boas’ side out of the Capital One Cup.

The Canaries are a big price to make the quarter-finals of the competition in 90 minutes at 10/3, yet they are likely to come up against a strong Spurs side who seem to be taking every competition seriously this year.

Recent history favours AVB’s men – they’ve won each of their last five visits to Carrow Road, four of which have finished 2-0.
For the same result to occur here Ladbrokes are offering 9/1, but they have only managed to keep one clean sheet on the road all season – at League One Carlisle in the competition’s previous round – so this bet should be sidestepped.

An option with more potential for profit is Grant Holt finding the back of the net, as he has done in three of his last four games. He’s 11/2 second-favourite to break the deadlock which offers excellent value for punters.

With just three shut-outs in total, Norwich can expect to trouble the scorers here and definitely should not be discounted from a punting perspective.

Under Paul Lambert, their games in this competition were guaranteed goal-fests, with over 3.5 scored in five successive matches.

With the north London club’s strengths residing in the final third, this clash could easily echo sentiments of a Capital One Cup clash from Lambert’s reign.

The price for there to be over 3.5 goals scored here is a generous 7/4 and, with five of Spurs’ last seven goals coming after the break, along with three of Norwich’s last five, back the second half to produce over 2.5 strikes at a hefty 3/1.

However, the best bet of the lot is for Spurs to win with both teams on the scoresheet – it’s available at 5/2 and has been the outcome in each of their last three away days in the Premier League.
