David Trezeguet has taken the chance to fulfil his dream of playing in La Liga before calling time on his career by signing a deal with Hercules.

The 32-year-old has spent the last ten years at Juventus, but has opted for a big challenge by agreeing a two-year deal with the newly-promoted Spanish outfit.

He told local radio station Cope Alicante: “I wanted to know the Spanish League, for me it was an important objective in my career.

“I’ve seen a team with ambition who want to do things well. I’m very happy to be in Alicante and I’m going to complete a dream. This for me is a new adventure.”

Trezeguet will fancy his chances of finishing as Hercules’ leading scorer this season and helping to secure their status in the division.

He is not the only big-name arrival at Hercules as they also completed the loan capture of Royston Drenthe from Real Madrid.

Luis Fabiano will harbour hopes of completing the season as La Liga’s top scorer, for which he is 20/1, after penning a new contract at Sevilla.

Fabiano has been linked with moves abroad for much of the summer, but will now remain in Spain to aid Sevilla in their challenge for the La Liga title.

They triumphed in their opener 4-1 at Levante and are 25/1 to win La Liga.

Elsewhere in Spain, Marius Stankevicius, who spent last season at Sevilla, has signed for Valencia on loan for the campaign from Sampdoria.

The Lithuanian will offer some strength at the back as Alexis and Carlos Marchena have left for pastures new this summer.

Chilean defender Waldo Ponce is another to arrive in Spain on loan after moving to Racing Santander from Universidad Catolica.

Barcelona captured David Villa, Javier Mascherano and Adriano during the transfer window, while Seydou Keita signed a new contract. They are the 4/7 favourites to win La Liga this season.
