Liverpool v Everton betting tips and odds

The Premier League returns from the international break this weekend and starts with the Merseyside derby on Saturday lunchtime.

The Reds are 1/3 for a victory which would send them to the top of the table for at least a couple of hours, while Everton are 15/2 for a shock win at Anfield.

We’ve trawled through some of Ladbrokes’ markets to pick out a few Liverpool v Everton betting tips and you can also read about some of the memorable Merseyside derbies throughout the years by clicking on the link.

Early kick-off a concern for Klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp won’t be happy with the scheduling of this match bearing in mind Luis Diaz, Alex Mac Allister and Darwin Nunez all played two full World Cup qualifiers, while Mo Salah played 90 minutes in both friendlies for Egypt, who played 65 minutes with just 10 men in Monday’s 1-1 draw with Algeria.

Left-back Andy Robertson also went off during Scotland’s 2-0 Euro 2024 qualifying defeat in Spain with a serious shoulder injury which may require surgery, so he could be on the sidelines for a lengthy spell.

Klopp will check on those players that have travelled from South America and the UAE where Salah was in action, but the German still has some good options available even if they are not feeling 100%.

Everton, meanwhile, go into the game looking to improve on a terrible record of just one win in 25 Premier League meetings with their neighbours, their sole win coming at an empty Anfield stadium in the Covid-hit 2020-21 season.

Since then, Liverpool have won three and drawn one of the last four meetings with Everton, who have failed to score in the last three matches, losing 2-0 in their previous two visits.

A third successive 2-0 defeat at Anfield is available at 7/1, but the Toffees have scored seven goals in their last three outings, admittedly against much weaker opposition than the Reds.

This is probably an ideal time for Everton to be facing Liverpool, but they could not have asked for a much easier set of fixtures from their first eight games yet still find themselves fourth from bottom despite winning two of their last three matches.

The Reds are without the suspended Curtis Jones, so Klopp has some decisions to make in midfield, but they should still have too much for the visitors, so a win and under 3.5 goals at 31/20 kicks off our Liverpool v Everton betting tips.

Waiting game for Nunez and co

In the anytime goalscorer market, Nunez returns to Anfield on a high after he opened the scoring in Uruguay’s 2-0 win against Brazil, who suffered their first World Cup qualifying defeat in eight years.

Six days earlier, the striker’s stoppage-time penalty earned his country a point from a 2-2 draw in Colombia where he came up against Reds team-mate Luis Diaz.

Nunez is 10/11 to get on the scoresheet at any time, but Klopp left him on the bench for the match immediately following the first international break, a 3-1 comeback win at Wolves, so it’s probably worth checking the line-ups an hour before kick-off should you wish to get involved in this market.

One player that will be itching to get on the pitch is Diogo Jota, who played less than half an hour combined in Portugal’s 3-2 and 5-0 wins against Slovakia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The forward started the game against his former club Wolves this season, so he is likely to be in Klopp’s thoughts and looks a good option at 23/20 to get on the scoresheet as the next of our Liverpool v Everton betting tips.

At higher odds of 7/2, midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai also looks an interesting prospect, having scored a penalty and assisted the equaliser in Hungary’s 2-2 draw with Lithuania in Tuesday’s Euro 2024 qualifier.

Szoboszlai played at Wolves in mid-September and has scored twice at Anfield this season, once in a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa and then a spectacular winning goal in a 3-1 success against Leicester in the Carabao Cup.

Yellow fever on cards for Blues duo

The last of our Merseyside derby tips is a Bet Builder option on Liverpool winning to nil, and both Ashley Young and Abdoulaye Doucoure to be booked at 18/1.

The Toffees have failed to score in their last three matches against Liverpool and they failed to find the net in this season’s only other match against a top-six side, a 1-0 defeat by Arsenal.

Young has been cautioned in three of his last four Premier League outings, while Doucoure was shown a yellow card in both previous visits to Anfield.

The Mali midfielder has only been booked once this season, but this is the kind of match where the red mist descends and in the heat of battle he could pick up another yellow in the derby which has produced an average of 5.5 cards per game in the last two seasons.
