Finland v Wales betting tips and preview

Wales warm up for their World Cup qualifiers against Belarus and Estonia with a friendly in Finland on Wednesday night but their preparations have hardly gone to plan.

Injuries and visa issues have robbed coach Rob Page of the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Neco Williams, Joe Rodon and George Thomas which resulted in Brandon Cooper, Mark Harris, Josh Sheehan and Ben Woodburn being drafted into the squad.

The Welsh are 6/4 favourites to win in Helsinki so let’s examine the markets and odds in our Finland v Wales betting tips.

Match Odds

Wales are up against familiar opposition this week when they take on a side they beat twice in the Nations League last autumn.

Kieffer Moore secured a 1-0 win in the Finnish capital and 11 weeks later the Cardiff striker was on target again in a 3-1 victory which secured promotion to League A.

The Welsh won the second half on both occasions and are priced at 6/4 to make it a hat-trick but Finland have made an encouraging start to their World Cup qualifying campaign and should not be dismissed.

Draws against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Ukraine ensured an unbeaten start to Group D and they are available at 2/1 to secure a point or 16/5 for that outcome with goals at both ends.

The Finns are 2/1 to win and will undoubtedly be relying on the firepower of Teemu Pukki, who has scored all three of their goals in qualifying.

The Norwich striker is 13/2 to get the first goal in a win for Finland, who are 13/10 to get the game’s first goal and 11/5 to do so in the opening 45 minutes.

That said, Wales opened the scoring against Belgium and Czech Republic and are 4/5 to break the deadlock in the Finland v Wales betting tips.

Talking Tactics

Page went with a 4-1-4-1 in the opening two games of Euro 2020 but played three at the back against Italy before switching to a 4-2-3-1 for the 4-0 thrashing by Denmark in the last 16.

Finland have lost six of their last nine matches, winning just once, but are likely to stick with a 5-3-2 formation.

Goalscorer Odds

Gareth Bale is the 7/2 favourite to bag the opening goal of the game, with Moore not far behind at 9/2, the same price as Pukki, who is also 15/8 to score any time.

Winger Dan James scored the only goal of the game against Czech Republic and is 8/1 to open the scoring or 10/3 to find the net.

Harry Wilson broke the deadlock against Belgium and can be backed at 5/1 to repeat the trick or 21/10 just to score in the Finland v Wales betting tips.
