Leeds v West Ham betting tips and odds

Injury-hit Leeds are 7/4 underdogs to get the better of West Ham on Saturday when they are bidding to win their first Premier League game of the season.

Marcelo Bielsa only made four changes to the team that had drawn with Newcastle for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out victory over Fulham after the match finished goalless.

Patrick Bamford, Luke Ayling and Raphinha all missed the trip to west London with injuries and Kalvin Phillips played at centre-back, so let’s look at the markets and odds in our Leeds v West Ham betting tips.

Match Odds

West Ham completed the double over Leeds last season and are 7/5 for a third successive victory over the Yorkshire side this weekend.

The Hammers’ unbeaten start ended on Sunday in a 2-1 home defeat to Manchester United, although Mark Noble could have rescued a point when he was brought on to take a stoppage-time penalty which was saved by David de Gea.

Had Noble converted from 12 yards that would have been West Ham’s third successive draw, available at 13/5, with goals thrown in priced at 3/1 bearing in mind Leeds have shared the spoils and conceded in three of their five matches.

Only the top three in the table have scored more goals than West Ham this season despite failing to sign a back-up striker to supplement Michail Antonio, who was suspended for the Premier League defeat by Manchester United.

The visitors are 14/5 to win and concede, but a strong Leeds team containing several youngsters failed to break down the defence of Championship side Fulham, so they can also be backed at 21/5 to win to nil should the likes of Bamford and Raphinha be missing.

For those who find this match too hard to call, both teams to score, over 2.5 goals and either team to win is 11/10, while at least a goal in both halves and the match to be drawn is 9/2 as one of our Leeds v West Ham betting tips.

Talking Tactics

Leeds winger Dan James flew to London via helicopter four hours after his partner had given birth to a boy and he will be certainly be needed with Raphinha possibly out and Jack Harrison isolating after a positive Covid test.

Bielsa’s options are starting to look thin, so the likes of Tyler Roberts and teenage winger Crysencio Summerville could come into the equation.

West Ham welcome back Antonio from suspension and should be at full strength in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Goalscorer Odds

Antonio is 9/2 to break the deadlock at Elland Road or 13/8 to be on target, while Jarrod Bowen is 15/2 to score first, the same price as Tomas Soucek who netted the equaliser here last season.

The Czech midfielder is 13/5 to score and Declan Rice is 15/2 to add to the goal he scored at Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League.

We mentioned Said Benrahma at 11/1 as a potential first goalscorer in last week’s game against Manchester United and he duly obliged. The ex-Brentford attacker is 8/1 and 11/4 in both markets as one of our Leeds v West Ham betting tips.

For Leeds, Bamford is the 5/1 favourite to bag the opener but with doubts surrounding his participation Rodrigo looks the next best option at 15/2 and 23/10. James is 9/1 and 3/1.
