Leicester v Man City betting tips and odds

The Premier League returns from the international break on Saturday when champions Manchester City have a tough trip to Leicester.

The teams have already met this season in the Community Shield at Wembley where the Foxes won 1-0 against a weakened team thanks to a late Kelechi Iheanacho penalty and are 24/5 to repeat the trick against City, who are 6/5 to retain their title.

Both teams have six points from their opening three games so let’s take a look at the markets and odds in our Leicester v Man City betting tips.

Match Odds

Leicester brought in Ademola Lookman on loan from RB Leipzig on transfer deadline day and he joins the likes of Patson Daka, Boubakary Soumare, Ryan Bertrand and Jannik Vestergaard in Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

Denmark centre-back Vestergaard joined from Southampton following a long-term injury to Wes Fofana and the feeling is the Foxes have done well during the transfer window unlike Saturday’s opponents who failed to sign Harry Kane in the summer.

The away team has won the last three encounters between these teams, with the champions winning to nil in their last two visits which is priced at 9/5 while a 1-0 or 2-0 away win is available at the same price.

Manchester City started the campaign with a 1-0 defeat at Tottenham but back-to-back 5-0 victories against Norwich and Arsenal without star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne proves they have strength in depth for this season’s challenge.

Leicester have scored in every match this season, even when they were reduced to 10 men five minutes before half-time at West Ham where they went down 4-1, and it should not be forgotten they beat City 5-2 almost 12 months ago when they scored three penalties.

Manchester City to win and concede is 2/1 while Leicester are 17/2 in the same market but with Rodgers’ side winning 1-0 in the Community Shield, under 2.5 goals looks an interesting option at 23/20.

Talking Tactics

Leicester defenders Ricardo Pereira and Ryan Bertrand are both available, but Jonny Evans and Jannik Vestergaard are unlikely to be involved.

Ayoze Perez is still suspended following his red card in the defeat at West Ham, while deadline-day signing Ademola Lookman could be included in the squad.

Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte was substituted at half-time in Spain’s 4-0 win against Georgia with “muscle fatigue” on Sunday but De Bruyne could return to the bench while it is uncertain whether Brazilian duo Ederson and Gabriel Jesus will be able to play.

Goalscorer Odds

Ferran Torres is the 9/2 favourite to score the game’s first goal but he has been away with Spain and will be assessed.

Rodri, who scored the fourth goal against the Gunners, is 18/1 and 6/1 in both markets.

For Leicester, Iheanacho is 13/2 to draw first blood and 12/5 to score while Jamie Vardy, who netted a hat-trick at the Etihad last season, is 5/2 to breach City’s defence.

Harvey Barnes, James Maddison and Youri Tielemans are 10/3, 7/2 and 6/1 to score for the Foxes in the last of Saturday’s Leicester v Man City betting tips.
