Man City v Leipzig betting tips and odds

Manchester City fell at the final hurdle in last season’s Champions League and are 7/2 second favourites behind PSG to go one better by winning the European crown ahead of Wednesday’s opening group game against RB Leipzig.

City are 2/7 to pick up three points in their first meeting with Leipzig, who were battered by Bayern Munich at the weekend.

Pep Guardiola’s side have made an excellent recovery from their defeat to Spurs on the opening weekend of the season so let’s check out some of the markets and odds in our Man City v Leipzig betting tips.

Match Odds

City take on last season’s Bundesliga runners-up looking to get off to a fast start before they face 10/3 Champions League favourites PSG in two weeks’ time.

The Premier League champions avenged their Community Shield defeat to Leicester with a 1-0 victory at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, their third successive victory without conceding which has lifted them to fourth in the table.

City are 11/10 to win to nil against a Leipzig team that lost 4-1 at home to German champions Bayern on Saturday, their third defeat in four games which has left them in 12th place.

Jesse Marsch’s side beat Stuttgart 4-0 in their second match but lost both away games 1-0 to Mainz and Wolfsburg, so we go 13/2 on another defeat by that scoreline.

That appears unlikely but City will need to make the most of their chances having won the shot count 25-6 on Saturday, eight of which were on target, while their expected goals mark was 2.75 in attack.

They are 3/4 to win by at least two goals, 20/23 to be ahead at half-time and full-time and 17/10 to win both halves in our Man City v Leipzig betting tips.

In our #GetAPrice specials, we go evens on City to win or draw, Leipzig to fail to score in the first half and under 3.5 goals in the match.

Talking Tactics

Guardiola went with a 4-3-3 on Saturday when Ferran Torres was flanked by Gabriel Jesus and Jack Grealish, although it was goalscorer Bernardo Silva who stole the limelight with a man-of-the-match performance.

John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling were all on the bench at Leicester, so they could be in Wednesday’s starting line-up.

Leipzig lined up in a 4-2-3-1 against Bayern in which Andre Silva led the line, with Dani Olmo playing behind flanked by Dominik Szoboszlai and Christopher Nkunku.

Goalscorer Odds

Torres seems to have got the nod as the main striker at the Etihad and is joint 4/1 favourite with Sterling to break the deadlock, with both players 7/5 to score at any time in our Man City v Leipzig betting tips.

Riyad Mahrez was on the bench at the weekend and is 9/2 to draw first blood or 6/4 to find the net while roving full-back Joao Cancelo is 7/1 to breach Leipzig’s defence, the same price as Stones.

Silva is the 10/1 favourite to score the game’s first goal for the German team and 16/5 to score any time while Olmo is 18/1 and 6/1 in the same markets.
