Man City v Palace betting tips and odds

Manchester City’s hopes of landing the quadruple this season are over after their four-year grip on the League Cup ended in a penalty shoot-out at West Ham on Wednesday.

City are back in Premier League action on Saturday afternoon and are 2/13 favourites to beat Crystal Palace, who are unbeaten in their last four Premier League matches.

Patrick Vieira has impressed during his spell at Selhurst Park, so the result is not a foregone conclusion as we look at the options in our Man City v Palace betting tips.

Match Odds

Pep Guardiola named a pretty strong line-up for the Carabao Cup fourth-round tie in east London but even the second-half introductions of Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Gabriel Jesus and Joao Cancelo could not find a way past the Hammers.

The Eagles have drawn and conceded in their last four top-flight games and are 13/2 to pick up a point at the Etihad or 17/2 to do so with goals at both ends in our Man City v Palace betting tips, bearing in mind they have drawn 2-2 with West Ham, Leicester and Arsenal this season.

Another 2-2 draw is available at 33/1, which was the score when the teams met here two seasons ago, and we should not forget Palace won 3-2 here 13 months earlier, so they have a good recent record at the Etihad.

However, the Premier League champions won both matches against Palace last season without conceding by an aggregate of 6-0 and are 3/4 to win to nil again but the hosts to win either half and to score over 1.5 goals while keeping a clean sheet is priced at 6/5.

Palace have performed well against teams outside the top three but they lost 3-0 at Liverpool and a repeat of that scoreline is 11/2.

City have also been ahead inside the first quarter of an hour in their last two matches against Brighton and Burnley and are 13/5 to be in front after 15 minutes for a third time.

Talking Tactics

Guardiola made nine changes on Wednesday after which he praised the performance of his players “against a team who defend very deep”.

Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne all began the game but only the latter is expected to start on Saturday which should see the likes of Foden, Grealish, Cancelo, Jesus, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Ederson, Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte recalled.

Vieira does not have any injury concerns and key attacker Eberechi Eze is getting close to a comeback following an Achilles injury.

Goalscorer Odds

England international Foden scored a double at Brighton last weekend and is the 7/2 joint favourite to break the deadlock alongside Ilkay Gundogan and Jesus.

Foden spearheaded the attack at the Amex Stadium, although he has the habit of turning up in all areas of the pitch and can be backed at 11/10 just to score or 5/1 to bag at least a double.

Silva is 7/1 and 11/5 in the two markets while Cancelo is 16/1 to net the opening goal of the game as he did at Club Brugge in the Champions League or 5/1 to find the net in the Man City v Palace betting tips.

Palace striker Christian Benteke could have scored five goals against Newcastle last weekend but had to settle for one and he is 14/1 and 9/2 in the two options, the same as Odsonne Edouard, who scored in the 2-2 draw at Arsenal.
