Netherlands v Czech Republic betting tips: Dutch attack has the edge

Free-scoring Netherlands are one of three teams to have won all their group games and a favourable draw means they are now 8/1 in the Euro 2020 winner odds.

The Dutch, who failed to qualify for the last two major tournaments, scored a group-stage high eight goals in victories against Ukraine, Austria and North Macedonia and they start as 7/10 favourites to beat Czech Republic on Sunday.

With Wales or Denmark awaiting the winner in the quarter-finals, both nations will be looking to go deep into the tournament as we look at the odds in our Netherlands v Czech Republic betting tips.

Match Odds

Czech Republic would have been facing Germany had they managed to get at least a draw against England so perhaps they should feel relieved they finished third in the group.

The Czechs beat the Dutch home and away in qualifying for Euro 2016 but are 21/5 outsiders to win in Budapest and a draw at the end of 90 minutes is 11/4.

Frank de Boer’s men won two of their matches without conceding and are 7/4 to do so again while they are 31/20 to win and over 2.5 goals as they did against Ukraine and North Macedonia.

They also won both halves in two of their games which is available at 18/5 and are 33/20 to be ahead at half-time and full-time.

The Czechs only conceded twice in the group stage, though, and all of their matches produced two goals or fewer so we go 20/23 on under 2.5 goals or 14/5 on the Dutch to win by that method.

If you think this match could end all square, a Dutch win in extra time or penalties is 7/1 and 10/1 while the Czechs are 20/1 and 11/1 in the same markets.

Talking Tactics

De Boer sets his team up in a 3-4-1-2 formation, with Georginio Wijnaldum playing just behind Memphis Depay and either Wout Weghorst or Donyell Malen, although Luuk de Jong is no longer an option having been ruled out for the rest of the tournament with a knee injury.

Denzel Dumfries and Patrick van Aanholt play on the flanks and are expected to bomb forward at every opportunity with Frenkie de Jong and Marten de Roon likely to play holding midfield roles in front of Matthijs de Ligt, Daley Blind and Stefan de Vries.

Czech striker Patrik Schick scored three goals in his first two games but was nullified by England at Wembley, although he is likely to lead the line in 4-2-3-1 system.

Goalscorer Odds

Depay has opened the scoring in his last two games and is 16/5 to make it a hat-trick or 6/5 in the anytime market.

Wijnaldum is Netherlands’ top scorer with three and he is 6/1 to break the deadlock as he did against Ukraine or 13/5 to find the net while Dumfries is 5/1 to bag his third goal of the tournament.

Czech striker Schick is the 6/1 favourite to get the first goal of the game or 14/5 to get on the scoresheet, with Tomas Soucek 7/1 to score any time.
