Next Everton manager odds: Five contenders to replace Ancelotti

| 02.06.2021

Carlo Ancelotti surprisingly quit Everton on Monday to make a dramatic return to Real Madrid in what he described as an “unexpected opportunity”.

Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati said: “Everton fans couldn’t have wished for a worse start to the summer with Carlo Ancelotti upping sticks but the latest odds suggest the next name in the dugout will be no stranger to the Premier League.”

Nuno Espirito Santo is the 2/1 favourite in the next Everton manager odds and we’re looking at the former Wolves boss and the other contenders to replace the Italian at Goodison Park.

Nuno Espirito Santo

The 47-year-old Portuguese left Wolves by mutual consent in May after an impressive spell at Molineux where he led the club back to the Premier League in 2018 and secured back-to-back seventh-place finishes. With a new challenge required, the Portuguese would no doubt be tempted by a switch to Merseyside but he is also the favourite to fill the Crystal Palace vacancy.

Eddie Howe

Out of work since August, Howe was widely tipped to take over at Celtic but after talks broke down he is another in the running to replace Ancelotti and is available at 3/1.

The attractive style of play he implemented at Bournemouth earned him plaudits but the Toffees may prefer a bigger name, especially after ending his time on the south coast following relegation.

Rafael Benitez

Rafael Benitez

Among the frontrunners at 8/1 is former Liverpool boss Benitez, who secured a famous Champions League win during his tenure at Anfield. While it would be a controversial move, the Spaniard is eager to come back to the Premier League and could not pick a closer place to his old home if he were to make the move across Stanley Park.

David Moyes

After a superb season with West Ham, the Scot’s stock is on the rise and inevitably his name has been thrown into the hat at 9/1 in the next Everton manager odds.

However, it is understood Moyes is close to signing a new three-year deal at West Ham but events at Goodison Park will no doubt strengthen his hand following an excellent second spell at the London Stadium.

Antonio Conte

If Everton wanted to go for another Italian, ex-Chelsea boss Conte is newly out of work after an outstanding two years at Inter Milan and can be backed at 10/1.

The 51-year-old former Chesea boss brought the league championship back to San Siro but departed last week. He would no doubt be given money to spend if he were to make a return to England.
