Everton launch Deadline Day ambush bid for Moussa Sissoko

It could be one of the biggest Deadline Day steals for some time, as Everton look to usurp Tottenham and Chelsea in the race to sign Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko.

The Toffees have reportedly tabled a bid for the French international, who shone at Euro 2016, with Tottenham baulking at the Magpies’ £30m asking price.

Everton however are still looking to spend a sizable share of the windfall from John Stones’ £50m move to Manchester City.

Ronald Koeman should still have a good £10-15m from that sale to invest in a Sissoko bid, having shelled out big money already for Yannick Bolasie and Ashley Williams.

The Dutchman has already got the blue half of Merseyside off to their best Premier League start in years, and signing Sissoko would really boost their hopes of a return to the top eight, or maybe even the top six.

Chelsea are also reportedly in the hunt for the 27-year-old, but the west Londoners may keep their Deadline Day activity to the £40m offer David Luiz from PSG, and the bookies make a move for Sissoko a 4/1 shot.

And despite Tottenham’s long-held interest in Newcastle’s star midfielder, it seems the White Hart Lane outfit aren’t too keen on the Toon Army’s asking price and having previously been 1/8 to join Maurcio Pochettino’s side, the price is now over evens at 6/5.

All this could see Everton swoop in late on the outside, with the bookies making a switch to Goodison Park a 4/1 shot.
