Hull and Sunderland interested in loaning injury-troubled Saint

Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez could be swapping the south coast for Humberside or Wearside if Deadline Day speculation proves fruitful.
The injury-plagued Saints man is rumoured to be interesting both Hull and Sunderland, whose respective squads look a little thin on the ground early in the Premier League season.
Rodriguez has endured a genuine rollercoaster ride at St Mary’s, destined to make England’s 2014 World Cup squad one minute, then cruelly sidelined for the best part of a year and a half by an ACL injury the next.
The former Burnley forward only featured a dozen times under Ronald Koeman last season, scoring three goals.
However, Rodriguez reminded Saints fans he was still there with a first Premier League strike in nearly two years when coming off the bench to equalise against Sunderland at St Mary’s ahead of the international break.
Nevertheless, this encouraging start to the season may not have been enough to keep him as part of Claude Puel’s Saints plans and Hull or Sunderland have emerged as the most plausible destinations.
Although the Black Cats have defied expectations by collecting six of nine points so far in the top flight, the paucity of first-team players available to caretaker manager Mike Phelan while is well documented.
Taking a punt on Rodriguez looks like a no-brainer. Similarly for new Sunderland chief David Moyes, bodies in several key areas, not least up front, would be welcomed
