Man United striker heading for exit as club listens to offers

Many assume that Radamel Falcao will no longer be a Manchester United striker after an unspectacular loan move to Old Trafford this season, but the Colombian flop could well be joined on the scrapheap by Robin van Persie, according to reports.

The Sun on Sunday suggest the Dutchman will be head to Juventus this summer after a difficult season spent largely in the physio room.

Van Persie was only able to manage 10 goals in 27 top flight games this term and suffered greatly with injuries in a campaign when Wayne Rooney was the only reliable source of goals up front.

The troubles at the sharp end of the pitch seems to have spurred Louis van Gaal into re-evaluating his striking options, with both Falcao and Van Persie making way for a fresh new look up top.

Should he had to Turin, the former Arsenal goalgetter will be among familiar faces, with Patrice Evra a former teammate and Carlos Tevez and Paul Pogba able to share Old Trafford stories of their own with the Dutchman.

As the Italian giants, who are 9/2 to complete a trophy treble by winning the Champions League at Barcelona’s expense next week, look to make an offer for the ageing front man, the Sun reports that United are now willing to listen to offers.

It is rumoured that Gonzalo Higuain is the man the Red Devils, who can be backed at 5/1 to win next season’s Premier League, want to bolster their attacking options and any chance on Van Persie leaving Old Trafford hinges on the success of the club’s pursuit of the Argentine.
