Premier League betting tips: Can Burnley grab their first win?

| 23.11.2020

After a Premier League weekend of twists and turns, we’ve got another Monday night double-header on the way this evening, with intrigue at both ends of the table.

We begin at Turf Moor, where Sean Dyche’s Burnley seek a first win of the campaign at home to Crystal Palace, then it’s down to Molineux for what could be a cracking clash between Wolves and Southampton.

So without further ado, here’s tonight’s Premier League betting tips for tonight’s games…

Burnley v Crystal Palace (17:30)

With just two points from eight games, Burnley just haven’t got going yet. But the general assumption is that the Clarets, packed with a tactically-astute, experienced core, will eventually haul themselves into mid-table.

They’ll have a few reservations about collecting three points tonight, however. That’s because Roy Hodgson’s Palace have won on three of their last five visits to Turf Moor, including in each of the last two seasons. The Eagles are 33/20 favourites tonight, ahead of the hosts at 15/8.

After a somewhat lean period in front of goal last season, Wilfried Zaha has already bagged five goals this term – one more than he did in the entire of the previous campaign.

The Ivorian is 5/1 to bag the opening goal in this fixture for the second year in a row, and 23/10 anytime, having scored in both of Palace’s last two wins at Turf Moor.

Goals have been at a premium for Dyche’s side this term. Chris Wood is 4/1 favourite to score first tonight, ahead of Ashley Barnes and Jay Rodriguez at 9/2, but with just three strikes netted this season, no side has scored fewer.

Six of the last seven meetings between these sides have seen under 2.5 goals scored, and there’s 15/4 about Palace to win and under 2.5 goals.

Wolves v Southampton (20:00)

After slipping to a 1-0 defeat at Leicester last time out, Wolves will be looking to bounce back at home to Southampton.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are 11/8 favourites, but plenty will have an eye on Ralph Hasenhuttl’s 11/5 visitors, who are on a sensational run of form.

After opening the campaign with back-to-back defeats, the Saints have won five and drawn one of their last six, racking up 14 goals in the process.

They could go third tonight with a win, although they’ve won just one of their last five visits to Molineux.

While Southampton have gone about their swashbuckling ways, Wolves appear to have had their wings clipped slightly since Diogo Jota joined Liverpool. Santo’s side are racking up points nicely, but only the three sides in the relegation zone have scored fewer than Wolves’ eight goals this term.

Raul Jimenez has scored half of those eight, and is the 16/5 favourite to score first and 11/8 anytime. The Mexican netted in both matches against Southampton last season.

There’s no Danny Ings still for the visitors, but Che Adams has filled the void with three goals in his last four games. The former Birmingham City striker is 6/1 to score first and 12/5 anytime.

But while Wolves haven’t been scoring for fun this season, they’ve been resolute at the back and boast the joint-best defence in the league, with just nine goals conceded.

Both of the last two meetings at Molineux have seen under 2.5 goals scored,  and there’s 4/7 about under 2.5 goals once again tonight.
