Premier League Betting Tips: Can Man City bounce back from cup defeat?

Published:

With less than week to go until the end of this protracted Premier League season, there’s still a host of games to be played this midweek.

Tonight sees Manchester City travel to a manager-less Watford with both sides desperate for a quick response from their previous defeats.

City’s FA Cup conquerors Arsenal are also on the road as they take on Aston Villa whose top-flight status is hanging by a thread.

Watford v Man City (Tuesday 18:00)

After Nigel Pearson’s sacking, it’s left to caretaker manager Hayden Mullins to steer the Hornets to safety.

They may have to do it without Troy Deeney who’s being assessed after coming off against West Ham.

Watford are 8/1 to get the victory that would heap huge pressure on the sides below them. A draw that would take the home side four points clear of relegation, if only for a couple of hours at least, is 4/1.

But after their FA Cup semi-final loss last weekend, City are 1/3 on to respond with a victory. Pep Guardiola’s team are 11/10 to score Over 2.5 Goals.

In the goalscorers market, Danny Welbeck is 4/1 anytime, while Deeney is 12/5 to net. City’s Raheem Sterling is 7/2 to break the deadlock, while there’s 6/5 anytime about Gabriel Jesus.

Aston Villa v Arsenal (Tuesday 20:15)

Arsenal may shuffle their pack after making the FA Cup final. The Gunners will welcome back Eddie Nketiah from suspension and with Shkodran Mustafi injured, they could bring in Cedric Soares or Rob Holding.

Mikel Arteta’s men are 19/20 to get the three points, although it should be remembered that Villa were nine minutes from victory at the Emirates Stadium, and with their Premier League status at stake, are 13/5 to win on home turf.

Dean Smith Villa

But with Dean Smith’s side going all out, it may leave gaps at the back for Arsenal to exploit. Both teams to score is 4/7 with the draw at 13/5.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Outscore Aston Villa is 7/2, while Jack Grealish starts at 8/1 to open the scoring.
