QPR not finished yet, Bellamy and SWP targeted from Man City

QPR have already turned heads with the signing of Joey Barton and are now being heavily linked with Shaun Wright-Phillips and Craig Bellamy.

Wright-Phillips seems surplus to requirements at Manchester City and has been linked with a move to Bolton in recent weeks.

However, with Tony Fernandes not shy to spend money at QPR, he appears to have moved to the head of the race to gain Wright-Phillips’ signature.

A transfer fee has been agreed between the two clubs, although discussions continue in relation to personal terms.

What would be an ever more surprising signing would be Bellamy, who would certainly be allowed to leave Manchester City.

A return to Liverpool has been speculated for Bellamy, but his high wages have been key to delaying developments.

This is not something that may prevent QPR making an offer, as they look to assemble a squad capable of avoiding relegation this season.

It is also unknown whether Bellamy is being chased on loan or a permanent deal and Manchester City would be likely to accept a cut-price offer to get the Welsh striker’s wages off their books.

Elsewhere, QPR are also keen to bring in added quality in defence and are interested in both Anton Ferdinand and Liam Ridgewell.

If QPR are successful in all of their transfer targets, they would have virtually signed a new outfield line-up this summer.

Their team for their next game at home to Newcastle could in theory be Paddy Kenny, Luke Young, Danny Gabbidon, Ferdinand, Ridgewell, Adel Taarabt, Joey Barton, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Jay Bothroyd, DJ Campbell and Bellamy.

QPR are 5/4 in the Premier League odds to beat Newcastle.
