Tottenham v Wigan: Spurs can pile on the misery for Martinez

Published:

The odds may be against them, but both Harry Redknapp and Roberto Martinez will continue fighting in the Premier League for very different reasons.

Wigan are currently rock bottom of the table and are 1/4 to be playing Championship football next season after their defeat at Queens Park Rangers saw them fall four points from safety.

Meanwhile, Spurs are fighting their own battle at the top of the table and are now 22/1 to win the league following their defeat against Manchester City.

A defeat in this game for either side would be a huge blow to their goals for this season…

Match odds

Spurs are the favourites at 2/9 and it’s hard to see beyond a win for the north London side.

Their dramatic last-gasp defeat against Manchester City aside, Redknapp’s men have been brilliant in recent weeks and showed their fighting ability with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Watford in the FA Cup last week.

Wigan have not won in eight games and have lost all of their previous four in all competitions – a win looks beyond them.

If you can see an upset though then Wigan can be backed at a massive 12/1 to get just their second win in six games against Spurs.

Goal markets

Wigan won 1-0 on their last trip to White Hart Lane and the same score this Tuesday can be backed at 22/1.

However, Spurs haven’t failed to find the net at home in the Premier League this term and boast the second best home record in the division.

With Wigan having the second worst away defence in the division, backing Spurs to score 2-3 goals looks well worth a punt at 1/1.
