Everton v West Ham betting tips and odds

Two teams with European ambitions meet at Goodison Park on Sunday as the Premier League resumes after the international break.

Everton start the weekend in fifth place and priced at 9/1 in the Premier League top-four odds, while West Ham are 16/1 in the same market having gone close last season.

The Toffees are 29/20 favourites to win the game, so let’s see some of the other options in our Everton v West Ham betting tips.

Match Odds

Rafael Benitez’s appointment was greeted with scepticism by some Everton supporters but the Spaniard has won over the fans with four wins and two draws from the first seven games leaving them just two points off top spot.

The Merseysiders were handed a reasonably easy start to the season, though, facing just one team from the traditional top six in the first 10 games but they went close to beating Manchester United only for a last-gasp winner to be ruled out by a tight offside decision after a VAR review.

The Hammers, 5/2 for another top-six finish, lost 2-1 to Brentford last time out which was their second successive home defeat, but they are unbeaten on the road after beating Newcastle and Leeds either side of a goalless draw with Southampton.

The away team has won in four of the last six meetings between these clubs, so we go 15/8 on a win for David Moyes’ men.

It promises to be a close encounter though, so it’s 11/8 on both teams to score, over 2.5 goals in the match and either team to win.

A goal in both halves and the match to be drawn is 5/1, while a simple share of the spoils is 23/10 as one of Sunday’s Everton v West Ham betting tips.

Talking Tactics

Everton’s draw at Old Trafford was all the more impressive in the absence of first-choice strikers Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, but Lucas Digne has also been added to an injury list which includes Alex Iwobi and Seamus Coleman.

Salomon Rondon was the sole striker two weeks ago in a 4-1-4-1 formation in which Demarai Gray played in the number 10 role and Anthony Gordon was deployed on the left wing.

West Ham boss Moyes has made very few changes to his starting line-up this season and could go with the same team that lost to the Bees in which Michail Antonio operated as the sole striker supported by Said Benrahma, Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals.

Declan Rice seemed to come through England’s 1-1 draw with Hungary unscathed so he is expected to play in a holding midfield role with Tomas Soucek.

Goalscorer Odds

With doubts surrounding Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, the favourite to bag the opening goal at 4/1 is Rondon who has yet to score this season.

Andros Townsend and Gray have been in superb form since joining the club and are 9/1 and 7/1 respectively to break the deadlock or 7/2 and 14/5 just to score.

Abdoulaye Doucoure has scored twice this season and looks an interesting option at 7/1 in our Everton v West Ham betting tips.

Antonio is 5/1 from the West Ham contingent to score the first goal and is 15/8 to add to his five goals this season, while Bowen, Fornals and Benrahma are 10/3, 4/1 and 16/5 to find the net.
