Watford v Chelsea betting tips and odds

Chelsea will hope to maintain their fine record against Wednesday’s opponents as we examine some Watford v Chelsea betting tips.

The Blues saw their lead at the top of the Premier League cut to one point after being held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Watford were beaten 4-2 at Leicester earlier in the day but have a wretched record against Chelsea.

Match Odds

Chelsea have lost only one of their last 18 matches against Watford in all competitions and have won seven of their previous eight meetings.

It is 1/3 the Blues leave with three points again and 1/1 for an away win and over 2.5 goals which was the case in all seven of those victories against the Hornets.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were breached for only the fifth time in the Premier League this season in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United and are 23/20 to prevail to nil.

There have been at least three goals scored in 12 of their last 13 encounters and both teams have netted in four successive clashes at Vicarage Road.

Chelsea to win and both teams to score is 21/10 while Chelsea HT/Chelsea FT is 21/20 in Watford v Chelsea betting tips.

Watford had scored just once in four home matches prior to their 4-1 victory over Manchester United.

With Chelsea difficult to break down, it is 10/11 for Watford to draw a blank against the European champions, who are 17/20 to stamp their authority on the game by winning the first half.

Talking Tactics

Watford boss Claudio Ranieri has gone with a 4-1-4-1 system in recent matches with Josh King primarily playing through the middle.

Daniel Bachmann replaced the injured Ben Foster in goal at Leicester while Emmanuel Dennis will be assessed after sustaining a knock against the Foxes.

The Hornets have not kept a clean sheet all season and with Chelsea’s array of options in attack, Ranieri may decide to be a little more cautious in this contest.

Chelsea’s 3-4-2-1 formation has worked wonders under Tuchel, allowing full-backs Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso the freedom to attack down the flanks.

Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Romelu Lukaku all came off the bench against Manchester United and could be in contention to start at Vicarage Road.

Goalscorer Odds

Norway international King is in fine form for Watford, scoring five goals in as many matches.

He is 9/1 to break the deadlock and 7/2 to strike at any time while Emmanuel Dennis has three goals in four matches and is 7/2 to find the back of the net again.

Lukaku made his first appearance for over a month when stepping off the bench against United for the final eight minutes.

Whether he starts remains to be seen but he is 7/2 to open the scoring and 5/4 to net at any time while Timo Werner is 9/2 and 7/4 in the same markets.

All four of Jorginho’s goals this season have been from the penalty spot and he is 14/5 to get on the scoresheet for the second successive game.
