Watford v Man Utd betting tips

Manchester United ease their way back from the international break with a trip to Watford but with tough matches against Villarreal, Chelsea and Arsenal to come.

The Red Devils slipped to sixth in the table with a chastening 2-0 defeat by champions Manchester City, but are overwhelming 1/2 favourites to win at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

The Hornets have lost three of their four games under Claudio Ranieri, so let’s check out some of the other markets and odds in our Watford v Man Utd betting tips.

Match Odds

United could move back into fifth place this weekend but a worst-case scenario set of results could see them drop into the bottom half of the table.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s players have a better record on the road than at home this season, just like the last one in which they went through the whole campaign unbeaten.

They have won two of their away games without conceding and with the Hornets failing to score in three of the games under Ranieri’s supervision, the visitors are 7/4 to win that way for a third time in our Watford v Man Utd betting tips.

Six of United’s 11 matches have involved goals at both ends, though, the sixth highest in the Premier League and they can be backed at 19/10 to win and concede.

Looking at the half-time stats, United have been level at the break in three of their five away games but won the second four times, so Draw HT/Man Utd FT looks an interesting proposition at 16/5.

United can also be backed at 6/5 to score in both halves as they have in five of their 11 games, while the visitors to win the first and second half is available at 27/10.

Talking Tactics

Scott McTominay has recovered from illness which forced him to miss Scotland’s World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Denmark, but uncertainty surrounds left-back Luke Shaw who played no part in England’s final two group games.

Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba remain out through injury and suspension respectively, and Edinson Cavani has been struggling with a tendon issue, but Marcus Rashford trained on Tuesday having missed England’s World Cup qualifiers.

Slovakia midfielder Juraj Kucka is suspended for Watford following his late red card at Arsenal, so Ranieri has at least one enforced change to make for Saturday’s game.

Goalscorer Odds

Cristiano Ronaldo will hope to get over the disappointment of Portugal’s 2-1 home defeat by Serbia which consigned them to the World Cup play-offs in March.

The 36-year-old striker is 5/2 to break the deadlock or 3/4 to score, while Mason Greenwood is 4/1 and 7/5 in the same markets.

Captain Harry Maguire scored the opening goal against Albania and San Marino on England duty and is 18/1 to repeat the trick or 13/2 just to find the net in our Watford v Man Utd betting tips.

Ismaila Sarr and Josh King are both 15/2 to draw first blood from the Hornets pool, although the latter is slight favourite at 13/5 to score any time.
