Werder Bremen v Bayer Leverkusen Betting Tips: Bayer to keep winning?

The return of the Bundesliga continues this evening as Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen go head-to-head in a match which could have significant repercussions at both ends of the table.

Bayer will be looking to pile the pressure on RB Leipzig as they battle it out for a Champions League spot, while Werder need the points in their relegation dogfight.

Both teams may be a little rusty after a two-month lay-off, but that doesn’t make us any less excited for an altogether different edition of Montag Nacht Fußball – that’s Monday Night Football to me and you.

Match Odds

These sides are separated by 21 points and 12 places in the Bundesliga table so it should come as no surprise that the visitors will kick-off the match as the 2/3 favourites.

Peter Bosz’s men had won nine from ten in all competitions prior to the enforced break, scoring 27 goals in the process. Should that form hold out, we go 13/5 for Bayer to Win and Over 3.5 Goals in the match.

Werder, who have won just four league matches all season and have lost each of their last six at home, are priced at 19/5. The Draw is available at 3/1, with a repeat of their 2-2 stalemate in October at 12/1.

Talking Tactics

Die Werderaner may have had a two-month break but boss Florian Kohfeldt still has issues with his squad.

Claudio Pizarro, Niclas Fullkrug and Ludwig Augustinsson are all out while Davy Klaassen is suspended. Davie Selkie will lead the line in his absence.

Their opponents have a much fuller roster to choose from with Kevin Volland their only significant absentee. Lucas Alario will likely spearhead the attack as a result, with Kai Havertz and Karim Bellarabi in behind.

Leon Bailey, Paulinho and Moussa Diaby should prove useful off the bench, while wing-backs Lars Bender and Wendell will offer width alongside Charles Aranguiz and Julian Baumgartlinger in midfield.

Goalscorers

Werder have failed to score in five of their last six home league matches so it’s difficult to see them troubling Lukas Hradecky too much this evening.

Our traders reckon on-loan Hertha Berlin forward Selke is their best chance of a goal at 12/5, although with midfielder Milot Rashica on seven for the season, he could be more enticing at 5/2.

Die Werkself have no shortage of options going forward and it’s Havertz who’s given their likeliest chance of finding the net at 13/10, while it’s 7/2 that he opens the scoring.

Alario, who netted in the 2-2 draw in October, is 7/5, with Bellarabi and Paulinho at 11/5 apiece. Bailey, who could be utilised off the bench, is 9/2 shot to Score Last.
