West Ham v Brentford betting tips and odds

The Hammers return to Premier League action with a London derby after making it back-to-back wins in the group stage of the Europa League on Thursday.

Goals from Declan Rice and Said Benrahma sealed a 2-0 victory over Rapid Vienna and they are 4/5 to beat the Premier League newcomers on Sunday afternoon ahead of the international break.

The Bees have made an excellent start to the season so let’s look at their prospects in our West Ham v Brentford betting tips.

Match Odds

Brentford are unbeaten away from home and can leapfrog the Irons with a victory which is priced at 7/2.

Thomas Frank’s side are ninth in the table but in expected goals terms they could be fourth with only Manchester City above them in terms of the quality of chances allowed, while their attack is the sixth best by a similar measure.

The west Londoners shared a thrilling 3-3 draw with Liverpool last weekend and having drawn two of their three games on the road we go 13/5 on another share of the spoils or 7/2 with goals thrown into the mix.

Goals could play a big part in the game at the London Stadium bearing in mind both teams have scored in five of West Ham’s six matches, so we go 3/4 on goals at both ends or it’s 5/4 on BTTS and over 2.5 goals which was the case in all of the Irons’ games.

Related to those odds, David Moyes’ men are available at 13/5 to win and concede, while the visitors are 13/2 in the equivalent market.

Brentford have taken the lead in four of their six games and are 17/10 to do so again or 27/10 to break the deadlock in the first half as they have on each occasion.

We have boosted the odds on the Bees scoring in both halves from 9/2 to 11/2 as they did against Arsenal and Liverpool, while a goal in both halves and the match to be drawn is 11/2 in our West Ham v Brentford betting tips .

Talking Tactics

Moyes named a strong side on Thursday night when Mark Noble accompanied Rice in the holding midfield role, with Andriy Yarmolenko and Nikola Vlasic coming in for Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen, but Michail Antonio once again led the line in a 4-2-3-1.

Aaron Cresswell was the only player in the back four that started the win at Leeds and Alphonse Areola was between the sticks, so changes are expected for Sunday.

Brentford have had a week off to recover from their epic encounter with Liverpool, but Ethan Pinnock, who broke the deadlock in that game, is doubtful after coming off just before half-time with a hip injury, although Frank expects it to be a “minor thing”.

Goalscorer Odds

Antonio is the joint top scorer in the Premier League with five goals and the Irons striker is 7/2 to get the ball rolling or 7/5 to find the net, with Benrahma priced at 13/2 and 13/5 in the same markets having bagged four goals in all competitions.

Rice has scored in both Europa League games and is 13/2 to end his Premier League duck for the season and we go 9/1 on Fornals to break the deadlock and 7/2 to find the net in Sunday’s West Ham v Brentford betting tips.

Bees striker Ivan Toney has scored the opening goal twice this season and is 5/1 to make it a third or 15/8 to breach West Ham’s defence.

Yoane Wissa scored the final equaliser against the Reds having netted a double in the 7-0 Carabao Cup drubbing of Oldham and is 10/3 to be on target again.
