Styrian Grand Prix Betting Tips: Who wins round two in Austria?

After a barnstorming opening race to the 2020 Formula One season last weekend, we haven’t long to wait before we go racing again, with this Sunday’s Styrian Grand Prix.
It’s the second race in succession at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, as part of F1’s revamped calendar in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The sport put on quite a show last weekend behind closed doors, with Valtteri Bottas dominating the race to claim victory.

But despite claiming pole position and the win last weekend, Bottas is only second-favourite in the betting at 15/8 to win this Sunday’s race.
His Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton is favourite at 10/11. The six-time champion finished fourth last Sunday, after being given a five-second penalty for an incident late in the race with Alexander Albon.
And despite the thrills and spills of a week ago, it was clear to all that Mercedes dominated the entire weekend and that they are once again the team to beat.
They claimed the top two spots in every practice session and in qualifying, and despite gearbox concerns which forced them to slow down in the race, they were still faster than all their rivals.
But if anyone can stop the Silver Arrows, it’s probably going to be Max Verstappen at 10/3.
The Dutchman looked like a potential threat early on last weekend, but his early retirement denied us the chance to see how his Red Bull can cope against the Mercedes duo over a full race distance. Verstappen will be raring to make up for lost time on a circuit where he’s won twice in the past.
Our traders don’t much fancy anyone else for victory on Sunday it seems, with Verstappen’s team-mate Albon next in the betting at 22/1, ahead of Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel at 40/1 and 50/1 respectively.
Alternative Styrian GP Odds
Though Leclerc hauled his lacklustre Ferrari into a second-place finish last week, the 22-year-old’s result owed much to a late safety car period.
The Italian squad lacked pace last weekend, and despite bringing forward a raft of planned updates for this Sunday’s race, it seems unlikely they’ll be able to find enough lap-time in just one week.
But while Ferrari may struggle, both Racing Point and McLaren will be eager to get racing again. Lando Norris finished third for McLaren on Sunday, a result which could easily have gone to Racing Point’s Sergio Perez.
The duo are 10/1 apiece to finish on the rostrum this weekend, with Norris’ team-mate Carlos Sainz at 12/1.
And last weekend’s race was also notable for the number of retirements. Only 11 cars were running at the end, and 5/6 says we see under 15.5 classified finishers this Sunday.
