Get paid out at 12/1 in our PGA Championship 3-Ball treble
Published:The PGA Championship is imminent so we’ve picked three men who look primed to shoot the lowest from their selected three-balls at Oakhill including European Tour leader Henrik Stenson, which would deliver odds of nearly 12/1 if successful.
As Major season draws towards its conclusion Sweden’s Stenson is a man firmly in full swing, sitting pretty in the Race to Dubai, having scooped €1,705,706 from just 12 tournaments played in 2013.
His co-runner-up placement at the Bridgestone Invitational preceding this tournament was the third straight event he has finished inside the top three – including a tied-second finish at the recent British Open – making his 6/4 status in any three-ball right now a price worth taking.
A first-round 65 at Firestone only adds further cement to the argument that one of the leading contenders for the championships can see off Charl Schwartzel and Dustin Johnson.
Meanwhile, Hunter Mahan, up against Billy Horschel and England’s Paul Casey, is by far the form-player in this particular trio. Mahan enjoys Majors, particularly in 2013, where the American followed up a tie for fourth position at Merion with a share of ninth in the treacherous surroundings of Muirfield.
If it hadn’t been for the arrival of his daughter midway through the Canadian Open just a week later, then two immaculate opening rounds of 67 and 64, could easily have have made him a winner as he headed to Oakhill. Mahan’s 5/4 price seems well worth throwing into the mix on this evidence.
Last but by no means least is the evergreen Jim Furyk, out at 1.45 local time and available to back at the same 5/4 odds to card fewer shots than Peter Uihlein and Thomas Bjorn.
Furyk has posted a pair of top-ten finishes ahead of the season’s final major and played some vintage stuff in the closing rounds at Firestone, where the American ranked third in both fairways hit and GIR, while finishing second in proximity to the hole.
