Delta Work and Corach Rambler second in Grand National odds
It looks like the mount of Rachael Blackmore, Ain’t That A Shame, will go off as favourite with Ladbrokes in the Grand National odds.
History-maker Blackmore is the name every punter wants to be with it seems, as her horse has seen his odds slashed to 8/1 from 14/1. The Irish raider is now favourite for the world’s most famous steeplechase, with Delta Work 9/1 and previous favourite Corach Rambler out to 10/1.

Other horses picking up momentum ahead of the biggest betting day of the year include Harry Redknapp’s Back On The Lash at 18/1, A Wave Of The Sea at 40/1, Born By The Sea at 50/1 and Mister Coffey at 28/1.
Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “The Blackmore effect appears to be sweeping the nation as everyone seems to be getting behind Ain’t That A Shame in the Grand National. Blackmore made history by becoming the first woman to win the famous race two years ago and the public are backing her to repeat that feat. As bookmakers, it’s certainly a result we are praying to avoid.”
Forty runners will line up to tackle the marathon course at Aintree on Saturday which is the biggest betting day of the year.
It’s the one race of the year where millions of novice punters pitch in against the experts to try to back the winner and it’s expected that a total of £/€150m will be staked across betting shops and online.
With this in mind Ladbrokes surveyed 2,000 adults to find out how they would pick Grand National horses to bet on, and a staggering 40% said they would place a bet this year.

An eye-catching name such as Mr Incredible (12/1) or Back On The Lash (25/1) or a name that means something personal (for example a person or place name) is top of the charts when choosing a horse to back with one in 10 claiming that’s how they make their choice.
With the Coronation only a month away it remains to be seen whether any member of the Royal Family will attend Aintree, but for those looking for a royal connection the appropriately named Roi Mage is a 28/1 shot.
McGeady added: “The Grand National will make its way into millions of homes on Saturday afternoon and although most individual bets wagered will be small, the sheer volume tells us this will be a record-breaking year.”
