Greyhound Grand National: Parkers Dynamite can shock Razldazl Raidio

Razldazl Raidio is the odds-on favourite to win his second consecutive Greyhound Grand National at Central Park on Friday evening.
No runner has managed back-to-back successes in the event since Topothetide at White City in 1978 and 1979.
But Ricky Holloway’s wide-running greyhound is no ordinary contender.
The 10/11 favourite has emerged triumphant from 46 of his 69 career starts, giving him a win ratio of 66.67%.
That’s some feat. Add in that he’s won three from four this season over Friday’s 480m distance and it appears to be some challenge that lays in wait for his five competitors.
Yet it’s his one defeat that could hold the key to this race.
Parkers Dynamite beat the jolly in the fourth Grand National heat at odds of 8/1.
That form was reversed in the semi-final with a 1/2l victory for Razldazl Raidio, but it goes to show that Mark Wallis’ entry has the beating of his main competitor.
He’s shown continual improvement on his track times around Central Park and is backed to spring a minor shock against the favourite.
Swift Dartmoor comes next at 6/1 for Ian Greaves. The four-year-old is yet to break the 30s barrier around the track, which could be a telling indicator on Friday.
His odds reflect his chances and we don’t expect him to be springing a shock after finishing third as the 3/1f in his semi-final.
The Alickadoo has improved on each of his last four runs and is a better bet of the outside runners at 7/1.
He jumped well in the semi-final, clocking a time of 29.77 in a 3l victory. That’s still a small way behind the two market leaders, but it should be enough to give trainer B. D. O’Sullivan hope.
A third-place finish beckons unless there’s a slip up from one of the main two contenders.
