The final of the 2017 Coral Champion Stakes is upon us with Romford once again set to be centre stage when the six remaining contenders line-up this Wednesday night.

We’ve got the latest greyhound racing odds ahead of the six-bend spectacular in Essex. Murrys Act is currently the 9/4 favourite to take the top prize in front of the watching Sky Sports cameras and he looks the one to beat despite his semi-final slip-up.

Kevin Boon’s son of Tullymurry Act missed the kick in his previous outing but ran on well to nab the runner-up place and seal his progression to this stage. That followed an impressive all-the-way success in front of the re-opposing Starring Storm.

The Paul Young-trained Bubbly Torpedo was the one who took full advantage of his rivals’ dallying out of the boxes, going on to score by three-quarters of a length in a hand-timed 35.40sec.

However, the middle seed has been given a tricky berth for the final with the blue jacket unlikely to suit. Anything can happen in greyhound racing but odds of 5/1 about his chances seem fair.

The previously mentioned Starring Storm posted an eye-catching 35.27sec when scoring by 3¼l in the third semi and Seamus Cahill’s sole railer isn’t easily ruled out.

He‘s third on the betting list behind Castell Henry. The five dog is a 3/1 shot although it’s the contender in the red jacket at 7/2 that makes more appeal.

Stand Alone let down favourite backers when finishing second behind Castell Henry last time out and is rated a 5/1 chance.

The final one on the list is the rank outsider, Piemans Jet. David Mullins’ bitch has arguably done well just to make it to the final but at odds of 33/1 it seems our greyhound racing traders don’t hold out much hope of a medal.

She’s been afforded her preferred trap four but it’ll take something special for her to feature prominently at the business end.
