Greyhound Betting Tips: Our trader chats Saturday’s action

| 20.03.2020

With footy pretty much off the cards this weekend, we’ve gone and drawn up some of the best meetings to check out on the track.

There’s a busy weekend of Greyhounds – albeit behind closed doors, coming up and our traders have profiled the best of the action below…

Saturday afternoon (SiS meetings)

Henlow

So far in 2020 the winning most trap has been Trap three with no less than 177 wins!

The UK’s champion trainer Mark Wallis trains at the Bedfordshire track and sends out Jesses Sister in the 228 race from the favoured white jacket.

She’s been in good form throughout 2020 having improved from A5 to be racing at A2 grade this afternoon.

What catches the eye is her 23.94 trial that she produced at Romford earlier in the week that shows she’s in great form, this looks like a good opportunity for her to lead all the way.

Earlier in the card at 2.11 we have an interesting ‘Invitation Race’ – these invitation races are a great initiative to showcase the best dogs trained at each venue.

Ballymac Zoro runs from trap two and has been flying around Romford the last few Friday nights winning 2 on the bounce over their marathon 750m trip.

She came back to Henlow last Saturday and ran over 550m and was flying at the finish but the line came just too soon for her as she was beaten a neck into second place. This afternoon she goes back up in trip and is sure to relish all the 692m trip.

Doncaster

Trap four has the best record of 2020 so far with 109 winners running at a strike rate of over 20%. In the 2.22 race the trap four runner is Cherokee Chief has won 2 of his last 3 races at the Yorkshire track. He is trained out of the excellent Shaun Parker kennel. Parker has trained 83 winners in graded company at Doncaster already this year at an impressive 24% strike rate

Saturday evening (RPGTV meetings)

Sheffield

For greyhound enthusiasts the 21.18 race this evening is a race to saviour. It’s the Steel City Cup final worth £10,000 to the winner and sadly due to the coronavirus will be the last grade one event in the UK for the forseeable future.

Headford Ranger has powered through the competition winning both his first-round heat and semi-final convincingly by 8L and three 3/4L and is sure to be popular for the final itself. However he has drawn Trap five and as a railer will be edging across the dogs to the left of him to try and find the rails. To do this he will need to ping the lids and force his way across but that is easier said than done!

The dog with the best draw in the final is Deadly Expert in Trap six. As the other five dogs are set to tangle on the inside he looks to have a clear run on the outside and he won his semi-final convincingly last Saturday night. Add to that that the stripes have been the place to be this year at Sheffield with 149 winners coming from Trap six at a strike rate of over 20%.

Crayford

Southfield Dele has made a great start to his career – having impressed in his trials he’s gone on and won two of his three races overcoming trouble in each of his wins.

David Lee (who is running at 19% strike rate this year) sends his puppy up to A5 company tonight but given his scope for improvement that may not stop him . He’ll again be looking to show his early pace and get to the front as soon as he can from his Trap four box which shouldn’t be a hindrance given that so far in 2020 the winning most trap has been Trap four with no less than 137 wins!
