Hamilton now joint-favourite for F1 title after Montreal masterclass

After a miserable race in Monaco, Lewis Hamilton laid down a marker to title rival Sebastian Vettel with a masterful performance in Canada.

The Mercedes ace cruised to his third win of the season – and his sixth success in Montreal.

And with Vettel finishing off the podium for the first time this year in fourth, Hamilton has slashed the German’s title advantage.

The Ferrari ace now leads by just 12 points, having been 25 ahead as they headed to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

With the momentum firmly back with Hamilton, our traders can’t split the sparring duo.

We’re 10/11 now on each of Hamilton and Vettel landing this year’s title, with Lewis cut from 6/4 on Friday.

It’s very much a two-horse race, with Hamilton’s team-mate Valtteri Bottas best of the rest at 40/1.

Vettel’s Ferrari comrade Kimi Raikkonen is 100/1 to win his second world crown, with nobody else shorter than 500s.

Our traders do fancy Mercedes to win the Constructors’ battle however, with 2/5 saying the Silver Arrows are top dogs for the fourth straight season.

They only lead the Scuderia by eight points however, and many will find the Maranello outfit the value option at 2/1 to overhaul that difference.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is up next in a fortnight’s time, and after victory in Canada Hamilton heads to the Baku street circuit as 10/11 favourite.

Vettel is the outsider this time around at 7/4, with Bottas 9/2 at Raikkonen 14/1.
