Albigna favourite for the Irish 1000 Guineas

Our traders have made Albigna the solid favourite for the Irish 1000 Guineas, with Siskin still favourite for the 2000 Guineas.

The three-year-old leads the betting at 15/8 with nearest rivals Peaceful (10/3) and Fancy Blue (5/1) further back for the showdown at The Curragh.

Ahead of tomorrow’s Irish 2000 Guineas, Lope Y Fernandez has shortened significantly in the betting and is now 5/1 from 12/1. Siskin remains the favourite despite being pushed out to 5/2 from 9/4.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “Jessica Harrington has hit the ground running since racing resumed in Ireland and with Albigna, it looks like she could be adding another Irish 1000 Guineas to her name.

Since Seamie Heffernan put his name beside Lope Y Fernandez, we have seen strong support for him and have slashed his price. On the other hand, we are looking to lay Siskin and have pushed his price out to 5/2.”
