Racing Recap: Bryony Frost 3/1 to ride a Cheltenham Festival winner

Bryony Frost was the star of the show once again as Cheltenham Trials Day threw up a number of significant talking points ahead of the Festival in March.

The 22-year-old rode Frodon to success at 8/1 in the Crest Nicholson Handicap Chase.

Her victory aboard the six-year-old follows triumphs with Milansbar and Black Corton in recent weeks.

She’s one of the brightest young jockeys in the business and can now be backed at 3/1 to ride a winner at the Cheltenham Festival.  

In Saturday’s big race, Definitly Red upset the odds for Brian Ellison to land the Cotswold Chase ahead of American and Bristol De Mai.

The six-year-old has halved in price for the Cheltenham Gold Cup and is now 20/1 for the Festival showpiece. He’s available at the same price for Grand National success.

Bristol De Mai, on the other hand, has endured a torrid time of it of late.

Big things were expected of Nigel Twiston-Davies’ star after he hacked up to win by 57l in the Lancashire Chase last November.

Since then the seven-year-old has been beaten in the King George VI Chase and was outclassed in the Cotswold Chase at the weekend.

At one stage this season he was 10/1 for Gold Cup victory. Now he’s a lowly 33/1 shot.

Meanwhile, Apple’s Shakira has emerged as the heavy favourite to land the Triumph Hurdle.

The French-bred raider maintained her unbeaten record in the Trial Hurdle at the weekend and is now just 11/4 for the real thing.

Maria’s Benefit has also been in good form of late and is the favourite for the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at 5/1.

Elsewhere, Moulin A Vent defied odds of 999/1 in-running to land a tough looking content at Naas yesterday.

Noel Meade’s charge edged Jury Duty in the closing stages and is now 20/1 for the RSA Chase.
