Dan Skelton discusses his runners at Newbury on Tuesday

| 28.12.2020

After a great weekend at Kempton, we move onto Newbury where we start with Finistere (12.55) in an introductory hurdle. He works quite nicely at home. He’s not a bumper horse but jumps very well.

It will be interesting to see how he gets on in this. We are still learning about him. I think he will make a nice jumper in time, if not straight away. Hopefully he will run a lot better than he showed in a bumper anyway.

Ch’tibello (14.05) runs in the handicap hurdle. He’s been tackling graded and conditions races recently, not winning but always running well. We are going back to handicaps to see how we get on.

He has a high enough mark to contend with, but let’s see. He owes us nothing and goes there under no pressure.

Get On The Yeager (14.40) is another horse who has done really well for us. He has dropped to a really competitive mark now. Unfortunately no one has forgotten to declare for this race as there are 14 runners!

I would have preferred to have seen less but the track and the trip are absolutely fine. I thought he ran quite well after being off for quite a long time at Wincanton last time. For some reason things didn’t happen for him last season. I am happy with the way he looks and the way he has been working.

Wilde About Oscar (15.15) runs in a very good edition of the Challow Hurdle, as good as we’ve seen in terms of competitiveness for a while.

I am very happy with the horse. He was always coming here the second he won at Aintree. I am really looking forward to running him. I think he’s a good horse.

King D’argent (15.45) runs in the handicap chase where he has top weight. Hopefully there will be no more rain now. He loved the fences at Warwick.

He was quite a good juvenile hurdler, but typical of those juveniles he just got lost in his second season. He has put that behind him since switching to fences and I was delighted with the way he got it done last time.
