Friday is day one of the Winter Million meeting at Lingfield and Ladbrokes ambassador Dan Skelton gives us his thoughts on his runners and those at Market Rasen.

Lingfield 12.50 – Nurse Susan

We have some nice runners at Lingfield, starting with Nurse Susan. We rate her very highly.

This is a good mares’ novices’ hurdle no doubt, but we like her a lot and she should go very close. There will be no issues with the ground.

Lingfield 1.50 – Éclair D’Ainay

The ground won’t be a problem for him. This is a similar type of race to his last one at Wetherby. He has looked progressive at two miles, he just doesn’t stay any further so this race is perfect for him.

Lingfield 3.00 – Midnight River

We are trying three miles over fences for the first time which is unanswered at this point. I think slow ground is suitable for him so I would have to give him a chance, although he’s not the favourite for a decent contest.

Lingfield 3.35 – Antunes and Destrier

This is a very competitive handicap hurdle for 100k. I would say they’re both looking to relight the fire, rather than having the perfect form at the moment. We go here hoping for a nice run, but not expecting fireworks.

Market Rasen 2.40 – Notnowlinda

We have two interesting runners at Market Rasen today. Notnowlinda runs in a mares’ listed bumper having won a point-to-point before we bought her.

I like her a lot and this will tell us what level we are at as a bumper horse. If she can win a listed race that is great and she will go straight to Aintree, otherwise we’ll lower our sights before going hurdling next season.

Market Rasen 3.15 – Flegmatik

Flegmatik has to go right-handed and I think this is a really good track for him over 2m 7f. This race looks like it’s what he wants so I have to give him a fair chance.
