Dan Skelton: Riggs ready to roll in Stayers’ Handicap Hurdle

| 19.11.2021

Ladbrokes ambassador Dan Skelton is in red-hot form and he has five runners at Haydock races and Huntingdon races on Saturday.

Haydock 12.10 – Knickerbockerglory

Harry goes to Haydock for us and starts here. He pulled too hard at Wetherby in what was a good race. When he settles better, he will be a very good horse.

I am running him in a race like this because I know they will go at some sort of gallop which will help him learn and be a better horse.

He’s certainly not out of it in this race, despite not having the fanciest form because he is decent. In terms of how long it takes for him to get the hang of racing, well it is up to him.

Haydock 1.15 – Calico

We were really disappointed with him at Ffos Las. We thought he would win. Maybe he wants a bit slower ground and a bit further, so he has got both of those this time.

No excuses now, so let’s get going. I thought he was going to be a progressive horse this year and there is still time for me to be right.

Haydock 1.50 – Alndam

He’s got to give weight but I have been desperate to run him. I need to run him before we go to the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup. That is his big race of the season.

I can’t see how we’ll be able to concede a penalty to these horses but it is a nice race for him to be in. He will run well, we have done lots of work with him, and I think this will sharpen him up.

Haydock 2.25 – Riggs

I am really excited to have him in this race. This has been the early season plan and I couldn’t be happier with him. He looks great and he is ready for that step up in trip.

Huntingdon 12.15 – John Locke

Graystone is the one to beat in this race but our horse has the numbers to go really well. He disappointed me at Cheltenham as I thought he would win. I have chucked the tongue strap on to see if that helps. We will have no excuses.
