Dan Skelton chats through his runners at Sandown, Wetherby and Taunton

We have a quieter weekend with one horse at Sandown; West To The Bridge (3:00). Willie Marshall will be on board and he won on him last time. The race is worth 100k so we thought we would have a stab at it.

We are happy with him but he has never gone three milesbefore but he looked to stay well at Wetherby when he won the other day. He’sonly got 10’2 so let’s have a go.

Up at Wetherby, we have three entries in the Mares’ Hurdle. Emmas Joy (1.03) will have a leading chance. The form was boosted yesterday by a horse of Paul Nicholls’. JP McManus has a horse in here who looks a nice mare who won her debut.

The rest of them don’t look good enough to win, includingtwo of ours who are just not good enough at the moment to win a weight for agerace.

We have put a pair of blinkers on Ardlethan (2.45). I felt that he has underperformed on his last two runs so maybe the blinkers will help. He can get lazy mid-race. This is a race we have had in mind for the horse for a long time so hopefully we have some sort of chance.

Antunes (3.23) goes back to the scene of his victory earlier in the season. I don’t know what happened at Newbury the other day. He just basically stopped after about a mile. It was very odd. He seems in good order at home and we’ve just got to crack on really. I can see him going chasing next year.

Midnight River (4.33) ran in a nice race at Worcester whose form just improves all the time. He is a nice horse. He takes on a dual bumper winner of Fergal O Brien’s, Ask A Honey Bee, that they are claiming off so this is a decent race. We have a little bit of experience to find but he is a good animal. He should go close.

On Sunday, we go to Taunton starting with Northofthewall (1.35). Paul Nicholls has a nice horse in there, Brewers Project, who was fourth in a Newbury Novice. It is going to be difficult to give a penalty to but he is consistent and deserves to take his chance. To be fair to him, he didn’t run too badly in the Lanzarote.

Ferrobin (2.05) has been bang out of form. He was due to run the other day at Doncaster but jumped over a rail before the race and the stewards wouldn’t allow him to run. It was a wasted day out but there was nothing wrong with him and we are just getting back out there with him again.

Call Me Chris (4.10) has been given a strong mark by the handicapper and I can’t see her figuring off her current mark.
