Horse Racing: What next for Lizzie Kelly after retirement?
Published:Two-time Cheltenham Festival winner Lizzie Kelly announced her retirement from racing today after an eleven-year career – yet our traders are hopeful that she will return to the saddle in the near future.
An appearance on Strictly Come Dancing or I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here has also been mooted as possible avenues the former jump jockey could go down if approached.
We’re offering odds of 3/1 that she rides a winner under rules before January 2022, while it’s 8/1 that she switches jobs and trains a winner before January 2022.
Kelly can also be backed to go down the showbiz route and has been chalked up at 20/1 to trot her way into the Strictly Come Dancing line-up next year, while a stint in the jungle is less likely at 40/1.
The announcement follows news she and her husband are expecting their first child later this year.
Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “Lizzie Kelly is a huge name in the sport of racing and after announcing her retirement, it wouldn’t be a shock if she was approached by TV bosses to do something else.”
