How Twitter reacted to Lewis Hamilton’s third world title
Published:It was a nervy, thrilling and unpredictable US Grand Prix but one which ultimately produced another Lewis Hamilton victory – and this time the Mercedes man claimed the world championship too.
The race in Austin proved to be a belter with rain and numerous incidents producing one of the best Grand Prix in years, and plaudits quickly came Hamilton’s way after a late error from Nico Rosberg let his teammate in for the victory and the title.
Here’s some of the best snippets from social media as Hamilton became only the second Briton to win three championships, and the first to defend his world crown
A couple of former World Champions were quick to congratulate Lewis and his team.
Congrats Lewis @LewisHamilton well deserved race win and 3rd #F1world Title!! You definitely rock!

It wasn’t an easy race for Hamilton, who struggled for pace in the early stages. Jeremy Clarkson knew why.
I know why Lewis Hamilton is so slow at the moment. He’s Tweeting.
— Jeremy Clarkson (@JeremyClarkson) October 25, 2015
(Hamilton himself wasn’t actually tweeting, obviously)
If the race itself wasn’t exciting enough, there was a post-race fracas between Hamilton and Rosberg involving a cap.
And then! Just to round off one of the most unusual race weekends in memory, Elton John steps up to do the podium interviews. It didn’t go down too well.
WHY did Elton John conduct the podium interviews? What has he got to do with #FormulaOne ???

Some just couldn’t get their heads around it all.
The cap throw then Elton John appearing on the podium. 5 minutes of surreal TV. #USGP — James Smith (@Jimbo_Smith) October 25, 2015
Elton John doing the podium interviews is just bizarre #USGP #Formula1 #headscratching
— Wayne O’Connor (@WayneWanyeEast) October 25, 2015
While others thought Elton’s appearance was rather apt.
How else to end this mental race than to have Elton John do the podium interviews#bbcf1 #SkyF1 #USGP #AustinGP
