Hungarian Grand Prix Betting Tips: Hamilton to win again?

After opening his account for 2020 with victory in the Styrian Grand Prix last Sunday, Lewis Hamilton now heads to one of his strongest events, the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Hamilton dominated last weekend, taking an incredible pole position in treacherous conditions, before cruising to his 85th Grand Prix victory.
The reigning world champion will be full of confidence ahead of this Sunday’s third round of the season, having won in Hungary an incredible seven times already.
Can anyone beat the six-time champ in Budapest?
Hungarian GP Winner Odds
Our traders certainly fancy Hamilton’s chances of an eighth win in Hungary, with the Mercedes ace 8/13 favourite for victory this weekend.
Team-mate Valtteri Bottas still heads the standings, though, and the Finn is deemed Hamilton’s most likely contender at 11/4.
Despite being comfortably beaten into third place last Sunday, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will surely fancy his chances this time around at 7/2.
Both Verstappen and Red Bull believe they’ll be more competitive at the twisty Hungaroring circuit. The team fancy that their Honda-powered RB16 is a match for Mercedes in the corners, with speed traps from Austria suggesting they were only losing out on the Red Bull Ring’s long straights.
Verstappen’s team-mate Alex Albon is next in the betting, although odds of 25/1 suggest we’re in for a three-horse race.
Alternative Hungarian GP Odds
Behind the leading contenders, all eyes will be on Racing Point this weekend. Sergio Perez has finished sixth in both races so far this season, but that could easily have been a third and a fourth for the Mexican.
The team have raised eyebrows with a car which is near-identical to last year’s Mercedes. Indeed, after qualifying 17th last weekend, Perez was the fastest car on the track for a spell during his climb through the field.
Racing Point’s pace has sparked an official protest from Renault, but in the meantime, Perez is 4/9 for another top-six result, and 10/3 for a podium.
McLaren have impressed this season too, and there’s 8/11 about Lando Norris grabbing a top-six finish for the third race in succession.
While McLaren enjoy a renaissance, old rivals Ferrari are in the doldrums. The Italian squad’s updates in Austria failed to yield much in the way of laptime, while both drivers retired early on after Charles Leclerc wiped out Sebastian Vettel’s rear wing on the opening lap.
There’s 11/10 about Leclerc grabbing a much-needed top-six finish, while Vettel, who has only one point so far this season, is 5/4.
Much of Ferrari’s problems this season have been due to regulation changes regarding their power unit, and they’ll be hoping that the Hungaroring’s lack of straights may help them regain competitiveness.
